May is National Water Safety Month, and the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina is sharing tips on how we can all stay safe in and around the water.

Tip # 1: Make sure children know to always ask permission before going in or near the water. Teaching your children to be water smart is the first step in water safety – be sure they understand the importance of asking permission before going in or near the water.

The history of the YMCA – like the history of the United States – is a story of incremental progress toward greater inclusion and equity for all. As we celebrate , we are honoring the stories of Black leaders who helped move the Y – and America – forward, as well as recognizing that history continues to be
created each and every day. Stay tuned as we share their journeys throughout the month of February.
