Atkins Academic and Technology High School

The Board of Education honored 38 students from seven WS/FCS high schools who will be attending the North Carolina Governor's School this summer. This four-week residential program for gifted and talented high schoolers receives receives over 1,000 applications per year from across the state. The Board of Education recognized schools that won Clean and Green awards during their meeting last week. Clean and Green is an initiative with Keep Winton Salem Beautiful and the Garden Club Council that rewards schools that reduce litter, provide environmental education, and beautify their campuses. Congratulations to School, School, and School for winning awards, as well as , , Elementary School, and for winning honorable mentions!

The Board of Education recognized Jerrin Moore, a rising senior at Atkins High School and the Career Center, for winning this year's Safe Sober T-Shirt Design Contest during their meeting last week. Moore's design was featured on hundreds of shirts to promote safe driving habits among young people. Congratulations!

Good evening Atkins families.
Our yearbook classes have worked hard on this year's yearbook. Our goal was to get it distributed before the end of the school year. Unfortunately, we ran into some technical difficulties and were not able to meet this goal. We will receive the shipment next month. We'll reach out to you with more details on that specific return date and will provide options for you to pick up the yearbook or have it shipped to you.

If you still want to place your order, you can certainly do so!

Rest assured, we have identified strategies to have yearbooks available before the end of the school year next year.

Congratulations to the track team for outstanding team and individual medals at the 5A State Tournament.

We have one final request for volunteer help for this school year. We are looking for a few extra sets of hands to help our staff with processing early-release permission forms Wednesday - Friday (5/20-5/22) this week from 11:45-2:30. As we wrap up the year, Atkins PTO would like to thank you all for your generous support of our school. Through monetary contributions and donating food items/gift cards to our various events throughout the year, you have helped us show up for our staff and students. They are immensely grateful! Thanks to you, our PTO had a tremendously impactful school year. We helped fill teacher requests for classroom needs, supported numerous clubs in traveling to state and national competitions to successfully represent our school, provided treats for our students and staff, and awarded $4,000 in senior scholarships. At a time when funding for schools is on the decline, we are so grateful that we are here to help bridge the gap and provide some much-needed moral support. We appreciate each and every one of you as YOU make this all possible.
To our senior families - we wish you all the best as the next chapter unfolds. To our returning families - we will see you next year. Have a wonderful and relaxing summer!

Dear Atkins Families,

Thank you all for your extremely generous support of our senior picnic. We gave the Class of 2026 an event to remember and it would not have been possible without your help.

Now it is time to celebrate all of our fabulous teachers and staff.
Teacher appreciation week is next week, May 4th through 8th. We are celebrating our Excellent STEM teachers with a special treat each day.
