💎Where are your acres of diamonds? 💎
An old priest came to Ali Hafed and told him that if he had a diamond the size of his thumb, he could purchase a dozen farms like his. Ali Hafed said, “Will you tell me where I can find diamonds?”
The priest told him, “If you will find a river that runs over white sands, between high mountains, in those white sands you will always find diamonds.”
“Well,” said Ali Hafed, “I will go.”
So he sold his farm, collected his money that was at interest, and left his family in charge of a neighbor, and away he went in search of diamonds, traveling through many lands in Asia and Europe. After years of searching his money was all spent, and he passed away in rags and wretchedness.
Meanwhile, the man who purchased Ali Hafed’s farm one day led his camel out into the garden to drink, and as the animal put his nose into the shallow waters, the farmer noticed a curious flash of light in the white sands of the stream. Reaching in, he pulled out a black stone containing a strange eye of light. Not long after, the same old priest came to visit Ali Hafed’s successor and found that in the black stone was a diamond. As they rushed out into the garden and stirred up the white sands with their fingers, they came up with many more beautiful, valuable gems. According to the story, this marked the discovery of the diamond mines of Golconda, the most valuable diamond mines in the history of the ancient world.
Had Ali Hafed remained at home and dug in his own cellar, or anywhere in his own fields, rather than traveling in strange lands where he eventually faced starvation and ruin, he would have had “acres of diamonds.” (Story paraphrased from Russell H. Conwell, Acres of Diamonds [Westwood, New Jersey: Fleming H. Revell Company, 1960], 10–14.)

A bottle of water at Costco is approximately $0.25...
The same bottle in the supermarket is worth about $1.
The same bottle in a bar costs $2.
In a good restaurant or hotel, it can be worth up to $3.
At an airport or on the plane, you may be charged $5.
The bottle and the brand is the same, the only thing that changes is the place.
Each place gives a different value to the same product.
When you feel like you are worth nothing and everyone around you belittles you, change places, do not stay there.
Have the courage to change places and go to a place where you are given the value you deserve.
Surround yourself with people who really appreciate your worth.
Don't settle for less.

Honestly, it's hard for me to sit still at a computer after 5 years of running a delivery service and a year of Amazon reselling. I move. But, the money is in discipline, writing things down, contemplative time, research, planning, and applying, applying, applying!
I accomplished a major goal this year to facilitate my first masterclass! And guess what? I had to sit still, rest, go through the process, shift my mindset from the hands-on operator to the administrative visionary I'm called to be. And one day, the administrative tasks will be delegated too!
If I want to do more of what I love in my zone of genius, I've got to step out of my comfort zone. I believe for MORE!

The current and future generations will be built in collaboration and independent thought. It's the only way to scale. Perfectionism and micromanagement are going to hold organizations back.
Develop leaders who model your company's core values and reward them for developing autonomous leadership around them.
You have to emPower people to show up Powerfully at every level of an organization. You can't always expect them to fake it til they make it. How can they fake what they've never seen nor experienced? Give them a peak inside the boardroom. Give them a seat at the table some times. Let them watch you work. Give them the tools and patient guidance to make decisions, express themselves, and see you admit your mistakes as a leader. Consider their humanity as you help them develop. Not only will you find loyalty, you will build lasting leadership. These new generations respect vulnerability and transparency not just tenure and titles. Their parents do that to them already. Either they give them too much power with excuses or not enough power and victim-hood. "Power over" instead of "power with" at the core of an organization creates succession problems. How will they lead tomorrow if it all has to figure out on the fly?
"What makes power dangerous is how it’s used. Power over is driven by fear. Daring and transformative leaders share power with, empower people to, and inspire people to develop power within." - Brene Brown
