Things I did today for Self Care Sunday:

šŸŒž Meditated in the morning sun

Meditating helps me to let go of any ruminating thoughts or suppressed feelings. The sun recharges me, and creates a sense of calm, warmth, and gratitude for me.

🧹 Cleaned and smudged my room/ Zen Den šŸŖ”
Cleaning, decluttering and smudging helps calm my mind and my energy and frees up space for welcoming in new energy and opportunity.

Also cleaned out the fridge, cleaned the cat box, took out the trash, vacuumed the house, did the dishes and wiped down the stove and counters. When my spaces are clean I feel more calm and am more likely to enjoy the spaces in my house.

šŸā˜•ļøTook a morning fall foliage ride with my latte and snack. This is one of my comfort routines that I like to do to allow for a slow morning to appreciate nature and invite in peace. Parked at my favorite beach and had a good cry. I haven’t cried in a long time and with the full moon I knew a purge of emotions was due. šŸŒŠšŸŒ•

Gave myself a massage, stretched, did some yoga poses to loosen my muscles and my hips to relieve tension and stored trauma.

Took an Epsom salt bath to relieve tension and sore muscles and relieve stress.

Ate some comfort foods and played my favorite game without feeling guilty.

I use my weekends to reset and relax and prep for the upcoming week. I try to clean and organize and meal prep on Saturday and make sure I get out and go for a walk and appreciate nature, sit outside and enjoy the weather and watch the animals.

I let myself sleep in if I need more rest and on Sundays I practice awareness to my inner needs, my emotional and spiritual practices and taking care of my physical body.

Tonight I might watch a movie šŸŽ„ šŸæand get in some laughs, and then I’ll journal and settle down for bed.

I love weekends!!!!

HELLO OCTOBER
THE SEASON OF LETTING GO

And so begins the season of letting go,
when Mother Nature shows us all,
how it’s done.

Let go,
free yourself,
shake it off,
drop it,
give way for the new.

Create space for new thoughts, new ideas,
new adventures and new connections,
by shedding the dead weight you’ve been carrying around,
for so long.

And whilst you are there, being reborn and renewed,
let go of old anxieties too.

Let go of any doubts, fears or beliefs which no longer serve you well.

Release bitterness or past hurts which feast on your beauty.

Be brave,
Don’t fear the nakedness as your leaves slip away.

Mother Nature doesn’t,
watch and learn.

Goal update:
I wanted to share an update on how it is going with my health challenge.

I’m going to keep it real and share both positive changes and struggles because life has both, right?!

So first I’ll share the positive because there is way more to share.

🌟I noticed that my cravings are gone.
I feel like I have a better relationship with food. I no longer have the perspective that everything has to be the most delicious amazing tasting food. šŸ˜‚
Can anybody relate? šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø Like, when your trying to come up with food to make for dinner are you like hmmmm what would taste reaaalllllyyyy goood? And then you access that part of your brain where you’ve logged all the most yummiest, scrumptious meals you’ve had and come up with that for dinner OR you have to be craving something in order to make a choice? Well that’s how my brain used to work.

Here’s a really amazing thing that I noticed…. I ate the same meal for 4 meals in a row… and I didn’t even care!!! I didn’t have to force myself to eat leftovers waaa 😩 (that was my previous perspective to eating the same thing)

Meal planning wasn’t a battle between logic and gut. Like well I planned this but now that it’s time to eat it, I don’t feel like it. I simply just eat food to fuel my body because I have to take care of myself so I choose foods based on their nutritional content and just eat it. No mind drama.

I also noticed I don’t force myself to eat ALL the food. I pay attention to my body’s cues. This mindful eating has been a practice I have been practicing for a long time but the mindset shift is there now.

I have saved money on groceries and lowered my food waste.

My emotions are better regulated. No more emotional eating. I take time and have the awareness to address my emotions, get down to the root cause, let them flow and let them go. Also a practice I have been practicing for a while. Best thing I ever learned in Life Coaching!

I am down 4.5 pounds in my first week, and not feeling bloated. I still have the love handles, saddlebags and tummy pooch but I’ll be addressing those this challenge too. 😊

Sooo the struggles:

Wanting the outcome quicker…impatience, but I address this with mindset. I give myself grace and compassion and practice my perseverance. I don’t like doing hard things and I don’t like following through. Making the plans and starting are easy for me, the rest…. discipline and follow through are challenges for me and I choose to persevere.

Addressing the emotions, being honest with myself about their cause (which can be the hardest part) and allowing them to flow instead of wanting to be rid of them. Sitting with myself and talking gently and compassionately while I let them go is key. This also helps me feel lighter and happier. (and also proud for doing the work)

Giving up caffeine. This has been a struggle this challenge so far, because I have built it into my morning routine which I love. I did just try swapping out my beverage for a non caffeinated beverage which was okay to try to get used to, but the headache sucks. I have a mushroom blend tea that lowers inflammation and supports memory and brain function which I mostly enjoy and sometimes I let myself have a 3/4 decaf 1/4 regular cup of coffee just to be lowering the caffeine so I can wean off and have less physical side effects.

I am usually an all or nothing thinking type person which can sometimes lead to perfectionist thinking and quitting if I didn’t get it all perfect. Example: absolutely have to do 16 hrs fasting, only healthy food and no caffeine or it’s wrong and I quit. This completely writes off all progress I have made in focus of the maybe 1% action I didn’t approve of, so I am allowing myself grace to have some caffeine in moderation, which I typically don’t believe in moderation. šŸ˜‚
I know my body will appreciate me quitting coffee because it causes way more negative side effects than pleasure.
