Hello Parents/Guardians and Students,

My name is Mrs. Haugen (previously Ms. Lambert), and I am originally from Burnsville, MN. I moved down to Winona in 2004 to attend Winona State University; I graduated from Winona State in May of 2008 with my Bachelors of Science degree in K-6 Elementary Education with 5-8 Communication Arts & Literature. In 2013, I earned my K-12 Reading Teacher license thro

ugh St. Mary's University. I graduated from St. Mary's University in May of 2014 with my Masters of Literacy Education. This is my 14th year teaching at the Winona Middle School. I have previously held the title of reading specialist as well as taught 8th grade language arts. I am very excited to continue my teaching career at Winona Middle School as one of the 5th grade reading teachers. I look forward to a great year together. We will work together to grow as readers. It is my goal to help each and every student find a love for reading. I hope you are ready for a year of learning and fun! :)

Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions, comments, or concerns. Happy Reading! Haugen

"You are strong enough to stand up on your own, but I am here for you." πŸ€—

"Speaking up for yourself can make anyone anxious. But if we prepare ourselves by practising we can do it without letting our big feeling silence us. Kids standing up for themselves has a lot of benefits…
πŸ‘‰ They will feel comfortable saying no
πŸ‘‰They will feel more confident and strong
πŸ‘‰They will find their independence not rely on others to save them
πŸ‘‰ They will develop solid and healthy relationships with peers who align with her morals and values
πŸ‘‰They will unlock the inner power.

Let's work with our kids to help them face these challenges independently"

Hello! πŸ‘‹ As fall approaches, I am thinking about my classroom library. I am hoping to add new and engaging books to my library for my incoming & future 5th grade students to enjoy. πŸ“š

If your child has outgrown any books (or you happen to run into free/great deals at garage sales/thrift stores), I would gladly add the books to my shelves. Any fiction or nonfiction books, specifically books geared towards 4-6th grade readers, will do!πŸ‘

Some popular books among my kiddos have been...
πŸ“—Series: I Survived, Harry Potter, Who was/is...?, The Last Kids on Earth
πŸ“™Authors: Raina Telgemeier, Gordon Korman, Lynda Mullaly Hunt, Andrew Clements, James Patterson
πŸ“˜Graphic Novels: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dog Man, Stick Dog/Stick Cat, The Baby-Sitters Club, Naruto

(Not to be picky, but please keep in mind, that kids, unfortunately, DO judge books by the cover so used good to new condition would be preferred as I'm trying to grab the attention of my kiddos. πŸ™ƒ)

Please comment here or message me if you are interested in sharing a book or two with a group of growing readers. 😊

Thank YOU in advance for your support! I know my students will appreciate any and all donations. ❀️
