Yesterday, Dr. Jessie Martin, Assistant Dean of the Music Department, served as a guest lecturer in Dr. Sinclair's Interventions to Support Occupations course, introducing students to the Alexander Technique.

The Alexander Technique is a mind-body educational approach that helps individuals recognize and modify inefficient postural and movement habits, promoting greater ease, efficiency, and body awareness. This valuable knowledge will enhance our students' ability to support the health, well-being, and functional performance of their future clients while also encouraging their own lifelong wellness and injury prevention.

Yesterday, our students spent a meaningful morning volunteering at Union Diversified Industries (UDI), honoring Lucy’s memory through a kindness-themed frisbee craft and game. Lucy embodied kindness in countless ways, and her love of frisbee golf made this activity a fitting tribute to the joy, compassion, and connection she shared with everyone at UDI 💛🌻💛

Our WoMB students and faculty had a wonderful time presenting at the Help Pregnancy Center in Monroe last week! Our expecting mothers learned about mother’s mental wellness and incontinence. We look forward to coming back in Fall for the 3rd part of our Nurturing Baby, Supporting Mom series. 💕🤰👶🏻

We are heartbroken to share that we lost a member of our WUOTD family this week. Lucy was everyone’s friend, passionate about serving others in need, and a true ray of sunshine that lit up every room she entered. We send our love and prayers to Lucy’s family and friends, and we will miss her so very much. Her celebration of life will be Wednesday, July 8 at 11:00am at The Journey Church in Lake Wylie, SC. Her family asks that those in attendance not wear black, but instead choose something that would make Lucy smile.

Instead of flowers, her family wishes to honor Lucy's passions by donating to one of two organizations she cared for deeply:

1. The Wingate University Department of Occupational Therapy to a fund that will be earmarked to provide equipment to clinic clients who cannot afford it. Checks can be made payable to Wingate University, c/o Department of Occupational Therapy, P.O. Box 159, Wingate, NC 28174
