Beginner's Yang-style Tai Chi
Saturday, June 13 ·9:30 – 10:45am
First Presbyterian Church Of Wi******er, 116 S Loudoun St, Wi******er, VA 22601
Tai Chi is a whole-body system of health in which mindful, graceful flowing movements are made without pause; a series of unified movements is called a "form". This tai chi class will focus on learning and refining an 8-posture tai chi form as taught by Adrian VanKeuren.
Proper body structure, grounding, and flow are emphasized.
Classes begin with qigong warm-ups and breathing before moving into form practice. This class is appropriate for beginner and intermediate students, including those with previous tai chi experience.
Practical Tai Chi
Saturday, June 13 ·11:00am – 12:00pm
First Presbyterian Church Of Wi******er, 116 S Loudoun St, Wi******er, VA 22601
MoveMentation’s Practical Tai Chi classes are a blend of tai chi and qigong, meant to get the practitioner connected into their own body. The focus is on proper body structure and grounding, while different series of movements are performed. Attendees can expect to feel more grounded, relaxed, and rejuvenated after each class. Limited-mobility friendly!
Class held at Frst Presbyterian Church in the (fully ADA accessible) downstairs Rumble Room, located at 116 S Loudoun St in downtown Wi******er on the walking mall. While the church does have a parking lot that is accessed from Cameron Street, you will need to enter the church through the large glass doors off of Loudoun Street.
Please note that these doors will be locked ahead of the class; the teacher will unlock them to allow students to enter starting 10 minutes before class time. Please note that the doors will need to be locked again while class is in session, as absolutely no wandering of the church will be permitted. Please arrive on time to avoid being accidently locked out of class. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to be a good fit at First Presbyterian Church!

We had such a lovely day with our students and fairy friends on Saturday June 6th! While we taught 4 classes, including our first Family-style Tai Chi class - for the kids!, the pictures are from the Flutterby Fairy Festival, taken by Wi******er's own Fairy Godmother Sharia Des Jardins.
Highlights from the day not pictured:
🌼 Adrian's joy at being back in class with her Saturday students after a week off, a week traveling for a (wonderful!) qigong class, AND a week helping her mother recover from heart surgery - she missed her students in those 3 weeks away!!
🌼 The look of unmitigated joy on a student's face after Adrian taught an ear stimulation exercise that may be able to improve hearing - and based on the look of joy, it might just be working!
🌼 Our unicorn rubber ducks becoming the "tea cups" for the qigong movement "Buddha's attendant serves tea" - some of those ducks stayed on our palms, and some went flying! 😂
🌼 The chaos - and beauty - of 2 & 3 year olds running around adults doing tai chi, while their teenage siblings looked on with gentle smiles
🌼 The look on one of our young fairy's face when she felt her Qi spinning between her palms during an exercise we did... 😍
All in all, Saturday was a day that reminds us that no matter how much work it is to run a nonprofit, it's all worth it. Please feel very welcome to join MoveMentation at any of our upcoming classes and offerings! We can't promise the unicorn rubber ducks will be there - but they might be! We were so happy to support our friends at The Evans Home for Children with a staff workplace training!
We're also very excited about this Saturday's Flutterby Fairy Festival, happening at Willow Grove Farm! And not just because we're hosting a 30 minute Fairy Tai Chi class! ☯️🧚♀️
This event is a magical day of fun - and vendors, a costume contest, laughter yoga, beautiful scenery, a unicorn, and a chance to support The Evans Home. Please join us!!
(And yes - we're still teaching our regular Saturday morning classes this year, AND starting a brand new class - Family-style Tai Chi - for the kids! We'll head to the farm to turn into Fairies after classes wrap up!) ☯️❤️🧘🧚♀️
A huge thank you to MoveMentation for providing an amazing training for our staff at the Evans Home yesterday!
During the training, our team learned Qigong techniques focused on breathing, calming, mindfulness, and energy shifting. These practical skills will help our staff better manage stress and will provide new tools to support the emotional well-being of the children in our care.
We are grateful for the opportunity to learn techniques that can benefit both our team and the young people we serve every day.
If you'd like to experience Movementation for yourself, be sure to catch their Fairy Tai Chi session at the Flutterby Fairy Festival this Saturday at 2:30 PM. It promises to be a magical and relaxing experience! ✨🧚♀️
