The 2026-2027 High School Bass Fishing season is HERE!!!!!

The GRC Bass Team will kick off the season by heading to Barren River Lake for the first stop of the BBT High School trail.

We have 12 anglers (6 Teams) making the trip down. Please help me wish them a safe trip and heavy weights this coming Saturday!!!

Practice/meeting tomorrow. 6-7:30 at the community center.

We will go over tournament expectations, some rules and etiquette, and we plan to have a school boat there to go over some things to know with launching/loading etc.

There will be a Facebook live meeting given by the BBTtoutnament director tomorrow at 8. Please plan to attend. In the past years you could type questions in the comments and he would answer them.

A BIG THANK YOU to Backwater Outfitters for your support of the GRC Bass Team. It is more appreciated than you know.

Backwaters is located at 1066 E New Circle Road in Lexington. It is owned by Wi******er’s own Brad and John Myers. Please follow them on Facebook and all other social media. Brad posts daily about the deals they have going. They have a massive selection of all baits including the hard-to-find stuff that is sold out at other places.

Brad and John worked with the coaching staff to provide the team with some high-end rods and reels that will be awarded to our anglers this season.

Please visit and support them just like they’ve supported this team!!!

Also keep in mind that our registration meeting is at Wayne County High School (Try to not bring boats to the meeting) on the 9th as well as our launch site has changed to Conley Bottom this year. There will be a 10.00 launch fee collected by Conley Bottom.

All times will be Eastern this year and registration will start at 4pm and the meeting is at 6:15pm.

Takeoff will be 7:30Am or safelight until 3:30pm.

A couple of weeks ago the GRC team of Eli and Bentley Purcell was invited to a trial tournament for the upcoming BBT high school trail.

It was an opportunity to trial the new format and WeighBook. From everything we have heard it was a good time.
Oh yeah and they finished 2nd.

Anglers/Captains/Parents,

The first stop of the KBN State trail is coming up on October 10th. This is not a GRC team trail event but if you would like to fish it we need to get you signed up. KBN is different than SAF. You have to be registered through a coach’s portal. Coach Wes has graciously been gathering information and taking the lead on getting us in the right direction.

I have emailed the directors of this event to see how/when we will pay dues.

If you are interested in fishing this event please let one of the coaches know. Unless something changes between now and the tournament the coaches’ boats will be fishing it.

You will need to get a B.A.S.S. High school membership. This can be done online. Bassmaster.com.

Reminder:

To fish next weekend’s tournament you have to be set up and registered through WeighBook. YOU CANNOT SHOW UP ON SATURDAY AND REGISTER TO FISH. At last night’s practice the majority set up accounts and got registered. But not all.

IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL PAPERWORK TO BE TURNED IN NEXT THURSDAY OCTOBER 1st. NO EXCEPTIONS. These packets were handed out a month ago. This is district-required paperwork.

Last night a couple of students anglers mentioned fishing with partners who have not signed up or attended a practice/meeting. If they plan to fish this season they need to reach out to one of the coaches ASAP. If this is a chance for you to get a boat and captain we don’t want to knock you out of this. But there is a process and it will be followed for them to join.

A Boater safety course certificate is required. It doesn’t matter if you just bought a boat or are in year 30. If you want to captain a high school/Junior team you have to have it.
