And next week, the excitement at The Bayard School reaches another level! Over three days, we will sort our students in grades 1–8 into their houses!

The anticipation is REAL! Students are already throwing up the house signs, wearing their teacher scarves, and trying to figure out the big question…

WHICH HOUSE WILL CHOOSE YOU?! 👀🏠

We absolutely love teasing them and watching the excitement build. The energy, pride, and sense of belonging that our House System is creating is something special to witness.

A HUGE thank you to the fearless JaMeta Johnson, House of Reveur Leader, for collaborating with her nephew to help bring this vision to life. Your creativity, dedication, and willingness to jump in and help us BUILD something extraordinary for our students does not go unnoticed. 💙 🐺

🐾 READY TO LEARN, BULLDOGS! 📚

At The Bayard School, our goal is simple: we want every student to arrive on time, prepared, and in class ready to learn! 💙

As we begin the school year, we’re asking our Bulldogs and families to help us start each day strong by coming to school prepared and ready for a successful day of learning.

A few important reminders from our Updated Procedures:
📵 Cell phones & tablets are not permitted during the school day. Devices must be secured in a personal locker or a school-provided Yondr pouch, which must remain sealed throughout the school day.
🥤 Outside food & drinks are not permitted after 8:50 AM, including coffee, food, and energy drinks.
🚫 Food deliveries such as DoorDash and Uber Eats are prohibited for students. Parents/guardians may still deliver a forgotten lunch to the school.

When students are on time, prepared, and ready to learn, they are in the best position to make the most of their school day!

The wait is almost over! We are SO excited to welcome our students back to The Bayard School! 🎉📚

Our Bulldogs begin returning THIS WEEK! 🥳
🚪 Doors open at 8:30 AM
📅 Monday, August 31: Grades 1–6
📅 Tuesday, September 1: Grades 1-8 attend

We can’t wait to see all of our students back in the building and ready for an amazing school year! Let’s make it a great one, Bulldogs! 💙🐾

From an inspiring message by former NFL player Robert Jackson to meaningful professional development and an unforgettable House Team Sorting Experience, our staff connected through joy, reflection, laughter, tears, and purpose.

A special thank you to Principal Dr. Tongela Ginyard and our House Team Leaders for their vision and leadership!

RISE & BUILD: What a Day at The Bayard School!

The Bayard School truly embraced the vision of RISE & BUILD for the 2026–2027 school year!

We kicked-off our final PD day with a phenomenal guest speaker, Robert Jackson, former NFL player, who poured into our staff with an inspiring and powerful message about working with, understanding, uplifting, and empowering children of color.

His words challenged us, encouraged us, and reminded us of the incredible responsibility and privilege we have as educators.

Then came the food truck because great learning deserves great food!

We continued our day with meaningful professional development and ended with an unforgettable House Team Sorting Experience, inspired by the Ron Clark Academy House System. Our Bayard staff came together in a way that was filled with JOY, laughter, tears, reflection, encouragement, and connection.
We cried.
We laughed.
We celebrated.
We reflected on where we've been.
And most importantly, we began building where we're going.

Today, was more than professional development. It was about community, culture, belonging, purpose, and vision. It was about reminding ourselves that when we RISE together, we build something extraordinary.

A very special thank you to our proud principal, Dr. Tongela Ginyard for her vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to seeing The Bayard School RISE & BUILD! A special thank you to the House Team Leaders for their dedication and leadership.

Our teachers are Getting to 100%! 💯

During our Back-to-School Professional Learning, staff engaged in hands-on practice focused on strengthening the routines, responses, and teacher moves that help create classrooms where 100% of students are engaged and ready to learn.

Teachers worked collaboratively in small groups to practice, receive feedback, and refine their approach—turning learning into action before students even walk through the doors! 🐾

This interactive professional learning experience was led by Mrs. Walrond and Mr. Pritchett; it gave staff an opportunity to learn together, practice together, and continue building a strong, consistent instructional culture across our school.

We’re ready to RISE, BUILD, and get to 100%! 💙💯

As we launch our 2026–2027 theme, RISE & BUILD, Mr. Jackson will challenge and inspire our staff, families, community partners, and special guests to embrace a “No More Excuses” mindset—believing in what is possible, raising expectations, strengthening relationships, and taking ownership of the role each of us plays in student success.

Today, we kicked off our Back-to-School Welcome Back Staff Breakfast in the Bulldog Café, proudly sponsored by our Prestigious Sunshine Committee!

We are so grateful to welcome our amazing Educators back into the building and to begin preparing for another successful, beautiful, and blessed school year. ✨

As we embrace our 2026–2027 theme, RISE & BUILD, we are ready to rise to new heights, build stronger connections, and create an incredible belonging experience for every Bulldog who walks through our doors.
