⚠️ VIRGINIA CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT HOLDERS — IMPORTANT CHANGES ARE COMING ⚠️

Virginia’s concealed handgun reciprocity rules are changing, and if you travel while carrying, this is something you’ll want to pay attention to.

Under legislation approved in 2026, the Virginia Attorney General’s Office is required to review existing reciprocity arrangements and revoke recognition of states that do not meet Virginia’s new “substantially similar” standard by December 1, 2026. The broader statutory changes take effect July 1, 2027.

That means the states recognizing—or recognized in connection with—your Virginia permit may change. Exactly which states will ultimately be affected is still subject to the required review.

Why consider a Utah non-resident permit?

For eligible Virginia permit holders, a Utah permit can provide additional reciprocity when traveling, depending on each state’s laws. It is not a substitute for checking the law where you travel, but it may provide another option if Virginia’s reciprocity landscape changes. Virginia State Police specifically advises permit holders to verify reciprocity with each state before traveling.

Piece Be With You Concealed Carry Permit Training offers Virginia & Utah permit classes to help you understand the requirements and complete the appropriate training.

📅 Don’t wait until the changes arrive. Learn about an upcoming class and get prepared now.
