The Osher Program is a nationwide educational program for people over 50 (we call them "seasoned adults"): W&M is one of 125 universities that offers courses under this umbrella organization. Here's a link to the Osher Program website in case you want to know more about it.

https://www.wm.edu/offices/auxiliary/osher/

Click on the link on the website to get a Sneak Preview of the course offerings for the fall. You'll see our campus tour listed, among a whole lot of juicy courses.

The program is seeking volunteers to lead campus tours. The two-hour tour involves just the old campus at this point -- the three original buildings and the classroom buildings and dorms surrounding the Sunken Garden. In subsequent semesters we'll expand to the New Campus, but we're not at that point yet.

Please contact Karen McPherson to volunteer or for more information.

The Osher Institute at W&M is a membership of people -- mostly age 50+ -- from a variety of backgrounds. We share a common interest in continuing learning experiences and intellectual stimulation. There are no tests or grades. Members participate purely for the joy of learning.

While the situation around the COVID-19 outbreak is evolving every day, we are taking additional proactive measures that will protect our W&M community, on and off campus. We are guided by these four goals:

- Support our students, faculty and staff and keep them healthy,
- Ensure students can complete their classes,
- Maintain the university’s operations and commitments, and
Join in the national effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

In light of these goals, discussions with healthcare experts and the CDC’s most recent recommendations, the university has released policies (https://www.wm.edu/news/announcements/2020/message-from-president-katherine-a.-rowe-wms-covid-19-response.php) to safeguard our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends. These include canceling all university events through April 3. Some may be rescheduled or conducted virtually. We will reassess by April 1 and will keep you updated of any changes. In the meantime, please refer to our COVID-19 webpage (https://www.wm.edu/about/administration/emergency/current_issues/coronavirus/index.php) for more information and a Q&A.
Please visit https://traditionsweekend.wm.edu/ for an update on Traditions Weekend.

Until we can gather together once again, stay safe and be well.

William & Mary President Katherine A. Rowe announced modified academic operations in response to COVID-19 including interim policies for modes of instruction, events and travel in a March 11 email.
