Today I found myself thinking about my music learning journey after high school—and especially about the violin teachers who made a lasting impact. Two come to mind: Mr. Chen, who taught violin pedagogy during my time at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and Felicia Moye who guided me during my doctoral studies at OU.
Mr. Chen opened my eyes to the physical side of playing—the mechanics of bow hold, the importance of using the right kind of force. Ms. Moye, on the other hand, helped me open up my voice—not just musically, but also physically and personally.
I’ve studied with many violin teachers over the years, but the lessons I learned from these two have stayed with me most poignantly. I still carry their influence with me every time I play or teach.

Well today's accomplishment (or failure) is being beaten by the board game that my 12 year old and I cannot figure out how to play. The cat likes the box though.
