The education of each of our children is our most important responsibility. To advocate for the success of every child is a special calling.

We got to attend a wonderful concert presented by the Newton Community Children’s Choir on Sunday. Also performing was the Select Choir from Goessel High School. Both groups were outstanding. Full disclosure, our granddaughter is part of the Children’s Choir, which makes this old music teacher extremely proud.

Nothing is ever accomplished by yourself. There are so many people to thank and I am sure that I will leave some out. I want to thank those who supported me by communicating with their friends and family, those who displayed signs and those who distributed signs. I want to thank the countless teachers, administrators and other school personnel for their support and trust. I want to thank those who contributed to my campaign and those who encouraged others to contribute. Most of all I want to thank all who voted and supported me to continue to work for the almost half million schoolchildren of Kansas. Finally I appreciate the call from Luke this morning. Now we need to continue to move forward to assure that every Kansas Student has every opportunity to reach his or her potential and we continue to support the vision that “Kansas Leads the World in the success of EACH student.”

The campaign crew has grown over the years. Please remember to vote today before 7pm.
For the past couple of days, friends from across District 9 have been sending me copies of flyers designed to discreet me with misleading and false information. This type of activity is the reason good people with outstanding leadership qualifications refuse to seek elected office. There is always the temptation to fight back, but what purpose does that serve? I made a decision when I first ran for office that I would not participate in negative campaigning. I decided I would rather lose the election than to lower myself by slandering my opponent. Many of you know me in person or by my reputation. I believe that each Kansas student deserves every opportunity to reach his or her individual potential.
If you believe the flyers, don’t vote for me. If you want a representative who has a passion for the success of each Kansas student and will continue to work tirelessly to assure that they are able to achieve that success, I would appreciate your vote.
