Yesterday, our admin team traveled to Baylor University for the Culture of Joy conference, joining thousands of educators for an event focused on building joy-filled, thriving school communities.

The day also included a few memorable moments—meeting Baylor basketball coaches Scott Drew and Jerome Tang, touring Foster Pavilion, and, yes, taking a photo with Baylor's national championship trophy!

Today was the 2nd Annual Football Leadership Academy and Lake Day! The team spent the first hour learning about leadership from leaders in our community. Jon Morris, pastor from Vima, and Andy Womack shared with the team. Great day of getting better, growing, eating good food and spending time as a team.

Congratulations to Trinity juniors Brody Lee and Cam Killgore, who earned a spot on Team Kansas Select and competed at the High Plains Shootout this summer. They competed alongside some of Kansas' top high school baseball players against elite competition from Texas and Oklahoma.

Students in Trinity Academy's Anatomy & Physiology class this year won't just study the human body—they'll learn from someone who spent years caring for patients and witnessing firsthand the remarkable design of God's creation.

Activities Coordinator Bri Wendte will teach one section of the year-long course for juniors and seniors, drawing on her experience as a physician assistant to help students connect classroom concepts to real life—and for some, future careers in medicine.

"The more you study the human body," Bri says, "the more you realize how incredible God's design really is."

From hands-on labs and dissections to exploring the body's major organ systems, students will gain a deeper understanding of the human body while marveling at the Creator who made it.

Trinity is pleased to welcome McKenna Nuss as our new part-time high school and middle school art teacher. Entering her seventh year in education, McKenna has taught art at every grade level—from elementary through high school—and brings experience in visual arts, graphic design, photography, and yearbook.

A graduate of Emporia State University with a degree in Art Education and a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, McKenna is especially excited to introduce students to pottery this year while continuing to help them grow in drawing and painting.

For McKenna, art is about more than learning techniques—it’s a place where students discover confidence and joy.

“Art is a safe space,” she says. “Some students may struggle in other subjects, but they’re excited about art, and that’s what keeps them engaged in school. I think it’s important that every student has a place where they can succeed.”

Some seniors met last night to pray over the upcoming Senior Trip and assemble rocking chairs and benches gifted to the school by last year's senior class ('26). The 10 new rocking chairs, along with additional benches, have been placed on the east side of the high school.

Our prayer is that teachers, coaches, and students will use these spaces for meaningful conversations that encourage growth, deepen relationships, and point students toward Christ.

This fall, Heather Womack will teach Family & Consumer Science to high school students. Heather is a familiar face to many, having worked in the kitchen for the past three years. Her new class will help Trinity students develop practical life skills like cooking, sewing, budgeting, home organization, first aid, and more. But her greatest goal goes beyond teaching everyday skills.

"I want students to understand what it means to be faithful with the resources and talents the Lord has given them," Heather says.

Whether students discover a love for baking, learn to hem a pair of pants, or gain the confidence to change a tire, Heather hopes they'll see every skill as an opportunity to honor Christ and bless others.

We're excited to welcome Jonathan Chestnut ('12) back to Trinity Academy as a part-time Bible teacher!

A Trinity graduate, Jonathan returns to campus to co-teach the Senior Capstone course alongside Nate Awbrey and Matt Shepherd. Currently an Associate Pastor at The Assembly at Goddard, Jonathan is passionate about helping students know God's Word and grow in their faith.

"My heart is to disciple and equip people with God's truth," Jonathan says. "I want students to learn more about the Bible, but also to have their affections stirred so their whole self becomes excited about God."

For Jonathan, coming back to Trinity is especially meaningful.

"I know what it feels like to walk these halls, sit in these desks, and experience the pressures here," he says. "Being able to come back and be a voice of encouragement and truth to students feels like a really good fit."

Jonathan’s wife, Brittany (Sylvester), is also a Trinity alum. Brittany works as a mental health therapist, and together they have three sons: James, Judah, and John Mark.

Welcome back, Jonathan! We're grateful God has brought you back to Trinity and look forward to the impact you'll have on our students.
