Newton USD 373 is pleased to announce the hiring of Paul Carver as Principal of Cooper Early Education Center and Jordan Trego as Assistant Principal. The pair will lead the district’s early childhood center beginning with the 2026-27 school year.
Carver brings elementary leadership experience to the role, having served several years as a PreK-6 principal. Currently, he serves as the STEAM Teacher at Santa Fe 5/6 Center. He said the opportunity to serve at Cooper was one he felt strongly drawn toward because of the school’s impact on both students and families.
“I’ve worked several years as a PreK-6 principal, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the magic starts in early childhood,” said Carver. “I was drawn to Cooper because it isn't just a school, it’s a launchpad. It serves not only our early learners, but also the families. I am so excited to be part of the team that gives our community’s youngest learners their very first taste of success and our families an ally. There is nothing better than seeing a child realize for the first time that school is a place where they can do big things!”
Trego enters her 18th year in education and says she is eager to begin building relationships with students, staff and families at Cooper.
“I’m most excited about connecting with the Cooper family and championing the amazing things happening here,” said Trego. “I can’t wait to build on our current strengths and see how far we can grow together.”
Cooper Early Education Center serves Harvey County’s youngest learners through a variety of early childhood programs focused on preparing children for long-term success in school and beyond.
