With help from our community partners, Wichita Public Schools kicked off the new school year with more than 8,000 WPS employees at our Rally at the Roundhouse, presented by the Wichita Public Schools Foundation. Staff heard an inspiring keynote from elementary principal and social media influencer Gerry Brooks as we celebrated another great year of learning ahead.

Huge thanks to our sponsors — Credit Union of America, Wichita State University, Relevant Audio+Visual, Project Teacher, Savvas Learning, Vote Yes Yes 4 Wichita Kids, and Textron Aviation — for supporting our WPS family.

Changes in Kansas state law regarding connected personal electronic devices — including cell phones — will impact schools beginning this school year. WPS is sharing important information with families about what to expect and how to plan for family communication during the school day.

Families, please check the email address on file with your school for additional details.

Our attention remains on supporting safe, focused learning environments and preparing each student to achieve readiness for life, college and career.

We were excited to welcome more than 350 new staff members to Wichita Public Schools at New Staff Orientation!

A special thank you to Credit Union of America for providing spirit wear for our staff, and to our community partners for helping welcome our newest team members while sharing valuable information and resources.

We’re grateful to have so many dedicated educators and support staff joining Wichita Public Schools. It's going to be a great year!

Due to recent Kansas law, school districts and educators must limit social media to one-way communication with students. Since we can't always know if we're communicating with a student, we are no longer able to respond to direct messages or comment-based conversations on our social media pages.

It's important to us to provide support when needed. Please contact your student's school or message us at [email protected] if you need assistance.
