Spanish Honor Society students recently brought culture into the classroom in a hands-on way, creating Ojos de Dios, colorful yarn weavings associated with the Wixárika (Huichol) people of Mexico.

It gave students a chance to connect what they are learning in Spanish with the people, traditions, and cultures behind the language.

They turned out beautifully. We’re proud of the care, creativity, and curiosity our students bring to their work. 💙

Our Middle School musicians have been doing all of that this fall, and now they’re ready to share what they’ve built together.

These students gave up part of their Sunday to take care of a place that belongs to all of us. 🌱💙

Our Environmental Action Club hosted a campus workday, with Upper School students clearing debris along the ISLANDS boardwalk, pulling weeds, and planting flowers, shrubs, and mums around Upper School.

It’s one thing to have pride in your school. It’s another to roll up your sleeves and put that pride to work.

We’re proud of these students for showing up, pitching in, and making their campus a little better for everyone who comes through it.

Thank you to Mrs. Stong for donating mums, mulch, and soil to help make the day possible!

This week marked another big step forward for Independent Boys Soccer, both on the field and in building a program from the ground up. ⚽️

Tuesday brought the Panthers home for the first time this season, and the TIS community showed up in a big way. Parents, families, friends and students filled the sidelines as the team hosted Central Christian Academy. After CCA opened the scoring, the Panthers answered with their first goal of the season when Nathan finished off an assist from Justin to make it 1–1. CCA took a 2–1 lead into halftime before pulling away late for a 4–1 final.

Two days later, the Panthers took another step forward against the Wichita Warriors. Justin gave TIS a 1–0 lead before the Warriors equalized, sending the teams into halftime tied 1–1. The second half stayed tight as the Panthers defended well, created opportunities and continued showing more confidence and composure. Regulation ended 1–1, sending TIS into overtime for the first time this season.

The Panthers came incredibly close to their first victory, including a one-on-one opportunity that struck the post. In the 98th minute, the Warriors broke forward and scored the golden goal for a 2–1 final.

For a team that came together just a few weeks ago, the growth is becoming easy to see. They’re scoring, creating chances, defending together and putting themselves in position to compete. But this first season is also about something bigger than any one result. These Panthers are establishing the habits, expectations and competitive standard for the teams that will follow them and helping shape what Panther Soccer will become.

A lot goes into building a new program, and we’re grateful for coaches Ali Alibadi and Adrian Banuelos, plus the families, teachers and friends who keep showing up for these Panthers. That opportunity to step in, contribute and help build something matters at TIS. Students don’t just join what already exists. They get opportunities to help shape what comes next.

Year one is underway. 🐾

TIS Debate is off to a great start!

Last weekend, Gage, Austin, Gabe and Miyra opened the season in the Novice Division at Sterling, while Isaac and Jack competed in Junior Varsity.

For our students, debate is so much more than standing at a podium. It is learning to think quickly, build an argument, listen closely, communicate clearly and put classroom learning into practice.

And they brought home a little hardware, too. 🏆 Gage and Austin took 1st Place in the Novice Division!

We’re proud of this whole group for kicking off the season with confidence, curiosity and a willingness to keep getting better.

Panther Families officially went JK–12.

For the first time, Upper School students joined Panther Families, bringing students from every division together to meet their groups, learn some names, play a few games and start building relationships that will continue throughout the year.

Upper School’s instructions were simple: be friendly, be fun and add just a small slice of cool. 😎 They delivered.

But Panther Families are about more than one fun gathering. Throughout the year, students will come back together to build connections across ages, practice leadership, serve their community and explore what it really means to be a Panther.

The goal? Every student should be able to say:

I am known here.
I matter here.
I have people who will help me.
I have something to contribute.
I am expected to grow.

First afternoon meet of the season, cooler temps and a whole lot of PRs for Panther Cross Country. 👏🏃‍♀️🏃

The Panthers raced at Marion Thursday, and the 6th and 7th grade girls wasted no time getting things started. Cat took 1st and Vivian finished right behind her in 2nd for a Panther one-two finish. 💙 Reno added a 4th-place finish and William took 6th, both earning medals, while Jake ran a season PR.

The 8th grade girls had another strong day, with Aubrey placing 3rd and Sadie 6th, both earning medals and PRs. Marlena added another PR in the two-mile race. On the boys side, Ethan placed 8th with a PR and medal, while Ewan also turned in a personal-best run.

Upper School kept the PR streak going, too. Sophia finished 10th and Ben 17th to earn medals, while Alex finished 22nd and joined Parker and Colin in recording personal-best times.

That makes PRs for Jake, Ethan, Ewan, Aubrey, Sadie, Marlena, Sophia, Ben, Alex, Parker and Colin, plus nine medal finishes across the Middle and Upper School races. 🔥

The Panthers travel to Rim Rock today, Middle School heads to Andover on Tuesday, and the full team is back together at Winfield on Thursday. Keep it rolling, Panthers! 🐾

Lower School celebrated Dolly Day with Coat of Many Colors, led by Mr. Rivers on ukulele, before older and younger students shared books together across grade levels. 📚🌈

It was a sweet way to honor Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library legacy and one of the things that makes TIS special: students and teachers creating moments of connection, joy and learning together. 💙📖
