Mr. Scovell hosted the annual Parent Airbrush Fun Night this past Thursday. This is an annual event each semester where Intro and Advance Airbrush students can invite their parent or guardian to explore and experience hands-on what the Airbrush students are learning. This was a student led evening where the students instructed their parent or guardian on how to set up the airbrush, triggering, posture, substrate and easel set up, control exercises, and then how to airbrush the "Water Drop" project from start to finish. The students then guided the parent or guardian on cleaning and maintenance of the airbrush before they are finished for the night.
Thank you, Mr. Scovell for making this a memorable experience for all involved!
DHS HOSA is sponsoring a fundraiser for cancer awareness. We have designed a new cancer awareness t-shirt with the help of Bittersweet (amazing local store). For those of you who are new to DHS, we have a tradition of wearing a cancer awareness t-shirt on Wednesdays. This tradition was started by our boys soccer team to honor the mother of a team member who lost her life to breast cancer. So many of us have been touched by cancer or know and love someone who has. We want to bring this tradition back with a new twist. You will be able to select the color of shirt that represents the cancer you want to bring awareness to or you can choose lavender which is the color of survivors. All shirts will have the same image and logo but you will choose your color.
The funds will be split between HOSA and Victory in the Valley (a local cancer charity https://www.victoryinthevalley.org/). We will have the fundraiser open until the middle of January. Please consider purchasing a shirt to support a worthy cause and bring awareness to something that touches so many lives.
Here is the link to the shirt design and order form https://bittersweetderbyks.com/products/hosa-cancer-fundraiser-shirt?fbclid=IwAR069YGpwy2Rk6wz6okWI1gRAmGjOKZSA_4rjrDviAvl93rW0bxG80phQK0

As part of Derby Public Schools Strategic Plan, the Strategy 1 Early Childhood committee members have developed a survey to gather data on how families that reside in our district view current daycare and PreK programs in the area. The survey will also help identify any unmet needs that we could explore as part of a potential grant proposal.
Your data and voicing of any daycare or PreK needs you have are extremely valuable to planning for future programs. Please take a moment to complete the parent/guardian survey and share the link with others you know in the Derby Public Schools, USD 260 boundaries that currently have children ages prenatal-age 5. The survey will remain open through December 1, 2023.
