International Pancake Day came to Slate Creek Elementary!
Student teacher Samuel Hernandez is from Liberal, KS and grew up with the Pancake Race tradition between women in Liberal and in Olney, England celebrated annually on Shrove Tuesday/Fat Tuesday.
Slate Creek third-graders in Mrs. Pickerill and Mrs. Koehn's classes studied the tradition for a research project and presented a slideshow on their research to their classmates.
Today, pancake races and pancake flipping contests took over the gymnasium as a way to celebrate the historic competition and all they have learned.
First grade sent love over to Newton Fire/EMS and Newton Police Department! π
