One of the most rewarding things that I experience as a teacher is when my students take what they've learned from their piano lessons and create their own music, without my help on that specific piece.

This is my student Dana playing. She found a piece of music that she loved, and I told her it was too hard for her to play yet. But she worked on it by herself, and this is the result! I am sharing it with her permission.

I am so proud of her! She managed some huge leaps, lots of octaves, thick chords that were completely unfamiliar to her, and lots more besides.

She plans to keep working on this piece to finish it and to eliminate hesitations.

Good job, Dana!

I'm working to build my piano studio back up to what it used to be before I took a break to raise a family, and so I'm running a special: three months of piano lessons for $75 per month. Lessons are usually $100 per month.

You can sign up for the three months and then decide if you would like to continue after the promotional period is over.

I'm always happy to schedule a free lesson so you can decide if lessons are a good fit for you and your family!

There is a lot more information on the website linked above.

Singers need to know music theory so they can become independent musicians who don’t have to rely on someone else to teach them their notes!

Voice lessons with me include lessons on music theory, sight singing and more, along with guidance on proper singing technique, breath support and everything else that creates a great singer.

As I toil through seemingly endless exercises in preparation for the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Advanced Harmony exam, I often find myself asking WHY?!!?!? Music theory students are famous…

One of the best ways to increase our brain capacity, and to become better in many other ways as well, is to learn to play an instrument!

This Ted Talk highlights how beneficial music education is for the young. But it’s never too late! Any one of any age can learn to play the piano.

One of my oldest beginning students, Mary Ann, started lessons at the age of 60+. Mary Ann went on to fulfill her dream of being a church pianist!

In this talk, musician and educator Anita Collins makes a passionate case for music education as an indispensable part of school curricula, describing how learning to play music is the neurological equivalent of a full-body workout.

We had a great time playing on Botanica's beautiful white baby grand piano! We were so grateful to be able to provide Christmas music for Illuminations, and everyone really enjoyed bringing two complimentary guests each to take the light tour with us after we played!

Aaron and Sarah also played, but unfortunately I did not get any photos I could use of these two; we loved their live performances and they looked very festive in their Christmas themed clothing!
