As a kiddo, I experienced debilitating anxiety at school. My poor parents did their best to get me there. They were rewarded with my tears and scary letters from the school regarding my number of absences. That must have been so hard. š At The Sensory Site, we are proud supporters of school choice.

At The Sensory Site, our mission is personal.
What began as a journey to better support our own child has grown into a heartfelt commitment to families, educators, and therapists who love and care for neurodivergent individuals every day. Like many parents, we once found ourselves searching for tools that could truly help with emotional regulation, sensory challenges, and calming routines.
We created The Sensory Site to offer exactly that.
Our products are thoughtfully curated and often handmade with care. Each one is designed to promote sensory exploration, emotional well-being, and joyful learningāat home, in the classroom, or in therapy. Whether itās a weighted plush that brings comfort, a calming slime that invites mindfulness, or a sensory kit that sparks curiosity, every item we offer is something we believe in because weāve used it ourselves.
We're proud to be a small, family-run business and we're honored to support others on similar paths. Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey.
Our journey is rooted in firsthand experience. As parents navigating life with ADHD and touched by autismāincluding the lesser-known PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profileāweāve come to understand just how complex and nuanced neurodivergence can be. PDA often presents as extreme anxiety around everyday expectations, making traditional environments like school overwhelming or even impossible for many.
We deeply respect the dedication of special education and public school teachers, many of whom work tirelessly to support neurodivergent students with limited resources. At the same time, we believe that school choice is essential for families like ours. When a childās needs fall outside the scope of traditional systemsāespecially with complex profiles like PDA, where anxiety and demand avoidance can make school attendance unworkableāhaving access to flexible, alternative education options isnāt just helpful, itās necessary. Every child deserves an environment where they feel safe, understood, and able to thrive. For some families, that may mean public school with the right support. For others, it may mean homeschooling, unschooling, or therapeutic programs. Empowering families with choice ensures that no child is left without a path to meaningful learning.
Thank you for supporting us and many other small businesses and special needs families when you shop at The Sensory Site. š

We are so thankful for the makers and small businesses that put their whole hearts into the products we carry. And for our hardworking package carriers that don't have the luxury of slowing down, especially this time of year! We do a lot of shipping and are so grateful for the friendly faces we see nearly everyday. We have always felt very fortunate to be on Cody's route but little did we know, we'd soon get to know the whole family.
We missed him dearly during two paternity leaves (UPS is so good!) and marveled at this young man's large family of littles that he works so hard to support. He always told us that the real star was his stay-at-home wife Laynie and we believed him, wholeheartedly. When he shared that she was enjoying the craft of crocheting and was quite talented, we asked if she would be interested in sharing her gift with us. We instantly connected as mamas to neurodiverse kiddos and are so pleased with how much customers love her sensory creations. We love them too and are repeat customers, constantly buying gifts for our own loved ones! Her love for chunky yarn has now been passed on to many. This hardworking mama of 5 continues to blow us away. We are thankful for you today, Miss Laynie!
We can't wait to share her latest designs, just in time for the holidays. Unveiling Laynie's Sensory Site exclusives sooooooon!! Stay tuned! š„°
