𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤?
Starting a business can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re stepping into entrepreneurship for the first time. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦.
Networking isn’t just about swapping business cards or attending events—it’s about building meaningful relationships with people who understand your journey and want to see you succeed.
When I transitioned out of the Air Force, I didn’t realize how much I’d miss the camaraderie and sense of community I had in the military. It wasn’t until I began connecting with other like-minded professionals that I started to fill that gap. Building a business is hard work, but having a strong network can make all the difference.
Here’s why networking is crucial as you build your business:
1. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐆𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬: Sometimes, you’re too close to your business to see opportunities or solutions clearly. Networking connects you with people who can offer new insights and ideas.
2. 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝: Your network becomes an extension of your marketing team. Word-of-mouth referrals are one of the most effective ways to grow your business.
3. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠: In a strong network, there’s always someone who has the answer or experience you need. Instead of trying to figure it out alone, you can lean on your community for guidance.
4. 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Entrepreneurship has its ups and downs. Being surrounded by others who “get it” can help you stay motivated and keep moving forward.
One of the things I emphasize in my coaching and within this community is the value of 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. In this space, we’re here to lift each other up, share resources, and celebrate wins together.
As you build your business, prioritize relationships. Attend networking events, join communities of professionals with shared values, and actively engage with others who are on a similar journey.
The connections you make today could become your biggest supporters, collaborators, or clients tomorrow.
If you’re part of my community, you already have a head start. Lean into the relationships there, contribute value, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Together, we’ll go further than we ever could alone.
What’s one step you can take this week to expand your network? Share in the comments—I’d love to cheer you on!
