This is not a pizza story but needs to be told. As I was driving down Kellogg today I needed to get to a gas station as I was very close to being out of gas. But it happened. I ran out of gas. I was about a quarter of a mile from the Hillside exit and started to head over to Quik Trip when two young gentleman yelled at me and said “hey do you need gas?” I told them I was good but they said we have some in the back of our truck. So they backed up to my old Jeep and helped me to try and get it going but I needed more gas than they had in their gas can. They towed me to Quik Trip and I filled gas and got it started. As a thank you I filled their truck up and their gas cans as they were mowing lawns today. I asked them what they were doing the rest of the day and they said they have one more lawn to mow and then they had homecoming tonight. I asked them where they were going to take their dates for dinner. One said I don’t have a date but he’s taking my sister. I asked him what they were eating and they said pizza. I told them I own a pizza joint and they should come by for dinner. I hope I see them tonight before they go to their dance to celebrate with their friends. It’s kids like these that give us hope that the world is going in the right direction. Cheers to Gavin Shelton and Joseph Sousa from East High! And especially Cheers to their parents! If anyone knows their parents please pass this along to them. Running out of gas made me a happier person today!
***. Update-the boys came by for dinner tonight and Gavin brought his date (Joseph’s sister) and they left with leftovers. Gavin’s grandma came by to say Hi and surprised them.

We are currently planning the activities and will send out a camp agenda as soon as we have the activities confirmed. Some of the activities we’re looking at are:

We are limiting the camp to 60 cadets, 30 from Heights and 30 from East. I would like to know as soon as possible if your child will attend the camp. Please reply to this email with your child’s name if they plan to attend.
Thank you.

Wichita teen credited as hero for helping injured friend, former teammate after crash
A weekend car wreck near K-254 and Webb Road put two Wichita teenagers in a unique situation. A drunken driver crashed into one of the teen’s cars, leaving the teen injured and unconscious. That’s when the teen’s childhood friend and former teammate stepped up to help save him.

A reminder to all our families that online enrollment is going on now. Due to the uncertainty of the status of COVID-19, East High is requesting that ALL families capable of completing online enrollment please do so electronically from home.
Unlike in past years, you do not need to come to the building to enroll. IDs and agendas will be distributed the first week of school. Only those students completely new to USD 259 need to come in person (pre-enrolled IB freshmen not included). Note that only one parent and the student(s) being enrolled will be allowed to enter the building.
Go to the USD 259 enrollment website at https://www.usd259.org/enroll, and follow the enrollment link to get your students enrolled and to pay your fees this year. During online enrollment, parents can upload documents that verify home address. This could include a rental receipt, lease agreement, gas/electric bill or a mortgage payment stub. Our building will be open for any family who cannot complete the online enrollment on July 27th and 28th from 12 - 7 pm and July 29th from 8 am to 3 pm.
