Smokey Mountain Tarheels

Camp Mission WNC would like to thank Davey Stephens and the workers of the WCU Steam Plant for sharing about the process of converting natural gas and diesel to steam, which in turn provides hot water and heat to many buildings at WCU. Our campers also had a surprise visit from WCU's robot, "Catabot"!

Jon Kinderman – Operator on Duty who are all integral to the Tuckaseigee Water and Sewer Authority, for showing our campers the whole process of cleaning and maintaining our water system and supply. It was fascinating to see how clean our water is as well as how much work happens behind the scenes.

SME is excited to share news about our Camp Mission WNC STEM Camp! This camp serves rising fifth through ninth grade. We are proud to collaborate with Southwestern Community College, Western Carolina University and WCU Police Department, and WCU College of Engineering, Jackson County Emergency Management, MAMA, Jackson County Rescue Squad, Cherokee Fire and Rescue, Cullowhee Fire Department, Michael Forbis-Office of the Fire Marshall, Michael Poston-Jackson County Planning Department.
