Today marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks that senselessly claimed the lives of 3,000 Americans.

Whittier High and the Whittier High School Alumni Association have commemorated that tragic day in a number of ways, from the cover of the Spring 2002 yearbook to a few moments at the 2026 Patriotic Concert earlier this year.

This song is called "Prayer for America". It was written for JoseLuis "Baritone Joe" Maldonado while he was pursuing a Master's Degree in Music at the Manhattan School. Its composer, Edward Nelson, composes and teaches in New Jersey in the shadow of the Manhattan skyline.
