📚🐛✨ Read Across America is a great time to promote critical literacy and what better way than to read children’s books written and illustrated by Río Hondo College students. These are the new titles selected from Profe Arévalo’s CHST 101 collection, ¡Nuestros Cuentos Cuentan! (Our Stories Count & Are Telling!). The children’s picture books explore many themes and cover a range of topics that matter to our students. These books celebrate student voice and creative imagination. Enjoy your time at the library’s Tree House by reading a storybook (located on the second floor of the LRC.) ✨📚🌱🌻

The National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies (NACCS) is the academic organization that serves academic programs, departments and research centers that focus on issues pertaining to Mexican Americans, Chicana/os, and Latina/os. Every year the association has an annual conference for its members and this year’s conference theme focuses on the discipline in the 21st century, The Continuities and Ruptures within the Field. It is also taking place in San Francisco. For anyone who is attending NACCS this week, consider joining this workshop if you have ever considered teaching full-time in the community college system in Chicanx Studies or Ethnic Studies.
