A core memory of mine is having my grandma come to school with me. It is something I still cherish to this day🤎
This week we welcomed our Grandfriends out to Gather + Grow! It was so beautiful to see the connection and learning taking place across generations. One GREAT-Grandfriend said to me "I've been to a lot of Grandparents' days at school before but never one like this outdoors!"
We worked as teams to build scarecrows. Can you believe out of all our Grandfriends not one has built a scarecrow before?! It was a learning experience for all of us😂
We sang, danced, and celebrated the joy of being together outdoors. We planted garlic together in our garden. We learned from a Grandfriend who shared his knowledge of animal tracking and calls, then we headed into the woods as nature detectives to look for clues and tune into the world around us. Another Grandfriend shared a very special treat made from a family shortbread recipe that has been passed down for more than 100 years!
These are the experiences that remind us how much we have to learn from one another, no matter our age. When children are surrounded by people willing to share their time, stories, skills, and traditions, they become part of something much bigger than themselves.
It was truly a special week🥹
