Thank you to everyone who attended "Know Your Rights. Protect Your Home: A Forum on Discrimination in Housing." Together, we learned about fair housing rights, available resources, and ways to advocate for equitable housing opportunities in our communities.

As we prepare to commemorate Juneteenth, we are reminded that the pursuit of freedom includes access to safe, fair, and equitable housing. Advancing housing justice is an important part of continuing the work of ensuring that all individuals and families have the opportunity to thrive without discrimination.

Special thanks to our partners, the Westchester County Human Rights Commission and the NAACP New Rochelle Branch, as well as Social Action Co-Chairs Aisha Cook and Rashida Cartwright-Thigpen and the Social Action Committee for making this important conversation possible.

On Saturday, members of Westchester Alumnae proudly joined fellow community-based organizations in the City of White Plains Juneteenth Parade, celebrating freedom, community, and the power of civic engagement.

As we marched through the streets, we shared Juneteenth memorabilia that highlighted the importance of early voting and reminded attendees that our voices matter. Our chant echoed throughout the parade route:

“Your vote, your voice, our Founders helped you have that choice!”

It was a beautiful day to be in community, united in purpose and committed to impact. Juneteenth calls us not only to remember the progress won through sacrifice, but also to exercise the rights secured through that struggle.

We celebrate freedom by showing up, speaking out, and ensuring that every voice has the opportunity to be heard.
