Psalm for the Soul

Being busy doesn’t automatically mean you’re being faithful to God.

As Christian women, it’s easy to confuse productivity, serving, helping everyone, and always being available with obedience. But even good things can leave us overwhelmed and exhausted when we’re carrying things God never asked us to carry.

Before adding one more thing to your plate, ask yourself:

Did God actually ask me to do this, or am I just used to being the one who does everything?

Busyness and obedience are not the same thing.

Sometimes the behavior isn’t the real problem. It’s how you’ve been trying to cope with the problem.

Stress eating. Overspending. Overthinking. People pleasing. Pushing through.

Before you ask, “Why do I keep doing this?” try asking, “What am I trying to get relief from?”

You don’t have to stop being afraid before you obey God.

One of my favorite details in Gideon’s story is that the Bible doesn’t hide his fear.

When God told Gideon to tear down his father’s altar to Baal, Gideon obeyed. But Judges 6:27 tells us he did it at night because he was afraid of his father’s household and the men of the city.

God still used him.

Maybe you’ve been waiting until you feel more confident, more qualified, or less anxious before taking the next step God has placed in front of you.

But courage isn’t the absence of fear.

Courage is choosing obedience while fear is still present.

So let me ask you:
