Early voting opportunities!

Early voting will be taking place at two locations this Saturday, November 2. In addition to the main location at the Decatur County Annex, the Westport Community Building will be holding early voting as well. Early voting hours are 08:00 AM to 03:00 PM.

Election day is one week away!

As a lifelong member of Decatur County and a parent of a child currently attending Decatur County Schools I am concerned with the uncertainty of our children’s future. I decided to run for school board to do my part to ensure that our children are given the best opportunity to learn, grow, and prosper in Decatur County.

Volunteering within the county in youth sports and through various school activities has given me the opportunity to get know many children and parents within our county. These factors along with many others have made the decision to run for school board even more meaningful to me. It will be an honor to serve this community!

Attending the school board meetings has given me great insights on our school corporations decision making process. It has been a valuable learning experience. With your help I am ready to be our voice for District C.

I would greatly appreciate your vote for school board to serve as the District C representative on or before election day November 5th!

Help support the SDES music department today!

Today is the day for our DQ Fundraiser from 4-9 pm at the Westport Dairy Queen! 10% of each purchase goes to the SDES Music Room. Mrs. Meeker needs to purchase a rolling cart for the piano in the music room. This fundraiser is a win-win for everyone! You buy your favorite DQ treat and SDES Music earns 10% of the sale. Donations are also accepted. It's going to be an awesome day for ice cream! 🌤

PS - DQ will be closing soon for the winter, it's a great time to stock up with some yummy treats to hold you through the winter!

Just wanted to share a little bit about me and my background. I was raised in Decatur County. My family values have been shaped by the many friends and family of our county. My wife Mindy and I decided to raise our 9 year old son Grayson and our newborn Whitley here to ensure that they experience the same great upbringing that we enjoyed.

In 2007 I graduated of South Decatur Jr/Sr High school and Ivy Tech Community College in 2010. Continuous learning and improvement has always been important to me. I have obtained multiple licenses and certifications through the years. I am currently Life Producer, Series 6, and Series 63 Securities licensed. My certifications include HVAC Technical Certification, SIE, Mandatory Firefighter, First Aid, and CPR.

I have worked in the mining industry for 17 years as a truck driver and yard loader operator for US Aggregates. I have also served others as a part time financial coach for the past three and a half years. This rewarding career and taught me many valuable financial skills and concepts that help guide me in my decision making process.

Community involvement has been very enjoyable and rewarding for me over the years. I have been fortunate to serve a few years as a member of Letts Volunteer Fire Department, volunteered with multiple youth sports programs, SDES career day, and the PTO.

On June 14th I filed as a candidate for the Decatur County Community School Board to serve District C, consisting of Sandcreek and Jackson Townships.

My main focus is to continue building a better future for our children! Thank you all for your great support and I would appreciate your vote for Decatur County school board on Tuesday, November 5, 2024!!!
