🌟 Happy New Year! 🥳
🌄 In order to contribute with your GREAT start into 2023, I’m launching a brand new course in English “Adapting to Change Mindfully” which will be FREE for 30 days (🔗Link in Bio).
🌎 As you have experienced already, we are living in unprecedented times. This world is constantly changing in unpredictable, complex ways. More than ever, we need to develop skills to help us adapt quickly, improving our mental clarity to make the best decisions to take care of what is most important to us.
🏙 On the other hand, today's businesses are challenged to do more with less, work faster than ever, continually make changes, reinvent products & services, and upgrade technologies to be competitive and successful.
⚜️The good news is that science has found that when you bring the right mindset to these everyday challenges, you can adapt better, triggering solution mode and becoming more resilient to change.
⚛️ Science has also found that fostering a well-being culture within organizations contributes immensely to maintaining or improving innovation, creative problem solving, boosting collaboration, and building inclusive and safe environments. So, no doubt, cultivating a happier workforce has become a critical business strategy that positively impacts the bottom line of any organization.
💻 In this course, you will be able to learn and practice the first wellbeing model PERMA, published by Dr. Martin Seligman, to help you harness your full potential and respond to change in a resilient and more mindful way. You will experience change as a process and opportunity rather than a challenge to be avoided.
I hope you enjoy it!! 🤩

💡What I learned from Gmail! A few years ago, when I was stuck in a continuous state of urgency, I learned a lesson about "acceptance". I learned after many disappointments that it is not healthy to control how others should react to my voice message, missed calls, whatsapp text, email, etc. 🤷♀️We don't know what the other person is doing and the sense of urgency of our message is only our perception. Believe it or not, I learned that from Gmail! 📨
👩💻 Before Gmail, I used Outlook for emails and was very satisfied with the availability to put flags ✅ for urgent, important, to have acknowledge receipt and even add a reminder for the other person to respond by this date, etc. I discovered that my expectations only brought me discomfort, and frustration, 😓 usually blaming others (lack of response) for my unhappiness.
👀 Some years later when I started a new job where they use Gmail, I desperately wanted to add urgent/important flags. I started asking around, how can you do that? And our Gmail guru answered calmly: You can’t, the only person allowed to assign color symbols for importance or urgency to your message is the recipient, Yes, the receiver decides what to do with your message.
Then, ✨I had an AHA moment✨. Wait! He's absolutely right! I cannot react to everything that comes my way, I must give it a priority code. If I want to prioritize a project, I make sure I use a filter to highlight any message related to it with a colored symbol.
🙌🏻 This can be applied to our daily interactions too. If I am busy in meetings but I know my husband will call with important information I need for a loan application, as soon as I see a message from him I will react, but I won’t react immediately if my sister sends a joke via whatsapp. I’m the one that decides, so let’s accept that others are also free to decide, they have their own priorities too. What is urgent for me, not necessarily is urgent for others. Do you get frustrated when your text is not answered inmediately?
☺️ Hope this story helps you practice more acceptance and increase your wellbeing.

🦋 When you enjoy each emotion as it happens, in full awareness of each thing that you receive, keeping your focus on all the little details that add up, then you allow yourself to move towards a state of gratitude where you recognize and accept everything and everyone around you; a state where you appreciate every detail, through the reward of being able to feel wellbeing, peace and experience positive emotions.
😀 Shine and smile right now, with the reward of recognizing every detail you've received today!
✅ Give me a like if you have recognized in yourself more than one positive emotion today!

👩🏻🏫 What are the things you like about your job?
📝 There are longer-lasting positive emotions, such as sense of contentment, meaning in life, satisfaction with work and life. In addition, it is much better to pursue happiness frequently than intensely. ✨ That is, if you are waiting for one big thing to make you happier, then it is time to stop and think, because you are losing the best gift of life, the details.
🤸🏻♂️ Choose happiness in the workplace! There are many things for you to be happy about, such as good news, cheerful people, new projects, celebrating wins, finding new forms to accomplish a task or making good relationships with your coworkers.
🧗♂️ In the end, it is where you put your attention that counts. Make feeling good emotions a priority, they are correlated with better mental health, creativity, less stress, facilitating more opportunities to feel positive emotions, creating an upward spiral of happiness. The impact goes a long way in all the areas of your life.

😃 “How Emotions Happen? is the million-dollar question in neuroscience, and each year new studies shed more light. There are many theories which try to explain it and the region of the brain where they are generated. 😉 Despite differences in how experts view our emotional lives, everyone agrees that many things affects our emotions, from 🧬 DNA to how much sleep we clocked the night before. Emotions work with reason and help us organize our thoughts. We are more in control of our emotions that we may think". (National Geographic. 2020. Tula Karras).
🧠 Your brain gets information from two different sources: your senses tell you what's going on in the outside world, while your emotions exist inside your body to tell you what these events and circumstances mean to you. 😎
😉 The ability to feel and express a full range of emotions helps us survive, enjoy, socialize, make sense, thrive.
🤩 Express your emotions as part of your wellbeing. What EMOTION are you experiencing right now❓Give me an EMOJI!!

✨The Health Benefits of expressing Gratitude are many, and some might surprise you✨ by Kori Miller.
💛 1) Gratitude letter writing leads to better mental health in adult populations seeking psychotherapy
💛 2) Gratitude buffers people from stress and depression
💛 3) Positive reframing underlies the relationship between the trait gratitude and a sense of coherence. A sense of coherence is how confident a person feels about potential life outcomes. It is the degree to which a person feels optimistic and in control of future events
💛 4) Patients who expressed optimism/gratitude two weeks after an acute coronary event had healthier hearts
💛 5) Gratitude and spiritual wellbeing are related to positive affect, sleep quality, energy, self-efficacy, and lower cellular inflammation
💛 6) Gratitude may enhance peace of mind, reducing rumination and depressive symptoms
🪴”If a person could do only one thing to increase their health and happiness, expressing gratitude might be it." Dr. Martin Seligman.
.
🎁 When a person expresses or receives gratitude, dopamine releases, thus making a connection between the behavior and feeling good. The more a person practices gratitude, the more often dopamine releases.
💌 Express GRATITUDE and enjoy the pleasure of Feeling Better!!

🪴Foster GRATITUDE in your life🪴.✅ How do you show your gratitude? Here are some tips:
🔹Shift from complain to gratitude. Every day, think about 3 things for which you are grateful. Write them down!
🔹Reframe a not so favorable situation seeing the positive side of the lesson that It gave you
🔹Take advantage of family time to talk about what they are grateful for. Let everyone participate and make it a habit🔹Consume experiences. Spending your money on experiences instead of things encourages gratitude.
🔹Write a thank you note to a special person in your life and read it aloud to him or her.
🔹When success comes to you or a loved one, take the time to celebrate it.
🔹Journal about all the “best” in your life: people, things, moments, activities
🔹Be grateful, be grateful, be grateful… don't ever stop!
☺️ Happy World Gratitude Day!

📖Flourish 📖 builds on Dr. Seligman’s game-changing work on ✨optimism, motivation, and character to show how to get the most out of life, ✨unveiling an electrifying new theory of what makes a good life — for individuals, for communities, and for nations. In a fascinating evolution of thought and practice, 🤩 Flourish refines what Positive Psychology is all about.
✅ While certainly a part of well-being, happiness alone doesn't give life meaning. Seligman now asks, What is it that enables you to cultivate your talents, to build deep, lasting relationships with others, to feel pleasure, and to contribute meaningfully to the world? In a word, what is it that allows you to flourish? ✨Wellbeing✨ takes the stage front and center, and Happiness (or Positive Emotion) becomes one of the five pillars of Positive Psychology, along with Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment — or PERMA, the permanent building blocks for a life of profound fulfillment.
🙌🏻 Have you read this book? 📙 Would you add anything to these pillars? Why?

✨ Mindfulness provides greater work satisfaction. When we engage the practice of awakening at work, it can transform the work environment for ourselves and those around us. Each moment becomes an opportunity to practice, to listen, and to be grateful for what we have✨. Marc Lesser
✅ A good practice in your workplace is: become aware of the moment, put your body in a correct position, close your eyes for few minutes, go to your inner feelings, thinking:
🔹1) What thoughts and feelings are in your mind? Turn off any unpleasant feeling.
🔹2) What body sensations do you have right now? Conduct a quickly scan of your body.
🔹3) Redirect your attention to the physical sensations of the breath as an opportunity to connect to the present.
🫁* The breath is a good exercise because it helps you connect to the present moment. If you are paying attention to the breathing, you are not thinking. If you are thinking, you are not in the present moment.
😊 Be aware of everything that is happening around you during your work. Make full use of your senses. Feeling grateful for everything you receive and also for what you deliver, both are part of your purposes.

🙀 How many times have you started your daily journey and start feeling anxious, confused, and impatient. Everyone expects you for a result, an answer, a comment, and not only you have responsibilities at work but also personal ones. Suddenly you are stressed, exhausted and you are feeling really bad. You can't think and you just want to run away.
📔 You can manage stress better by setting priorities, for example:
✍🏻 Take a break, write a list of everything you need to do, setting by priorities (rank: importance, impact, responsible person, deadlines), ⏳manage your time in a real context, talk with someone to request advice or only to be heard, 🧘🏻♀️practice relaxation techniques, learn that there are things which you can not control, avoid unnecessary tasks or delegate them, set realistic deadlines, stay always organized, have a written agenda and follow it
👍🏻 Prioritizing your goals and task (labor and personnal) you can minimize stress, be more productive, and save time for the most important thing "YOU"

🎡This is a quick look about four fallacies that people commonly believe when thinking about happiness. ➡️ What can we do to change their perspective?
🟡 “You can't increase your total happiness". Some people just are happier than others. And this is indeed partly true but not completely. Research conducted at the University of California by Sonja Lyubomirsky which involved comparing twins found that 50% of sustainable happiness is genetically determined and therefore fixed, and another 10% comes from your environment and circumstances which are hard to change, but that leaves 40%, nearly half of your total happiness, which is determined by what she calls “intentional activities”, what we consciously choose to do and think. The actions that you take can make a big difference to that available 40% of happiness.
🔵 “You can't be happy unless you also experience unhappiness". I certainly would agree that if you had a very unhappy life, then you'll appreciate the good things more. But wherever you are at the moment, you can get some more good things into your life without having to let in some bad things as well. As long as you know what unhappiness is like, then you know enough to build more happiness into your life.
🟡 “Money will make you happy". It's been shown that big lottery wins only have a short-term effect because people can't cope with a sudden change. On the other hand, If you're really poor, need food and place to live or you worry about your financial security, then money does indeed help. However, extra money does not in fact add to our happiness, because sometimes, the price you have to pay to earn the extra money outweighs the benefit that you get from it.
🔵 “If you chase happiness, you can capture it". Of course, in a way, but we should consider setting up the right conditions so that it can happen: seeing your friends more often, learning new skills, engage in a hobbie, etc. These will be practical things that you can do which then allow happiness to happen. Don't give up on being happier.
😉 Do you know any other misbeliefs about happiness? Please, share it!
