Westhill Academy Parent Council This page is managed by the Communications Group for Westhill Academy Parent Council. The Academy has an active Parent Council.

We aim to keep you updated with news, success stories, photos and dates for your diary. Westhill Academy is situated approximately 6 miles west of Aberdeen, just off the A944 Alford Road. The school opened in August 1979 to serve the rapidly growing commuter town of Westhill. The catchment area is mostly relatively new private housing along with pupils from surrounding rural areas. The school has

four main associated Primary Schools – Crombie, Elrick, Skene and Westhill. The roll for session 2024/25 is approximately 840, with around 70 teaching staff and 20 support staff. Many links are also established through our Community Wing which is used by various groups including under fives to over fifties. This provides a valuable community mix to the benefit of all. As well as outstanding academic performance, Westhill Academy offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. In addition, we place a great deal of emphasis on supporting young people and helping them take responsibility for their actions.

This year a record number of young artists and photographers from Westhill Academy took part in Westhill Rotary's two competitions. Our photograph shows 9 of them displaying their certificates for taking part including (standing far right in the front row) the winner of the senior artist section who also received a £25 gift voucher to spend on artist materials

All parents of pupils who are due to sit SQA exams should have been sent a copy of the main exam timetable from WA.
Please note that the times in this timetable are specific to Westhill Academy and therefore should be followed. Some times may vary from the one on the SQA website due to the school day so please follow the school one.

Scotland’s National Walking Charity Walking Scotland, would love to hear from people living in Kincorth, Kemnay and Westhill about what it's like to walk in the area; whether for leisure, to the local shops, to and from school, or even walking to catch public transport.

We want to find out what the barriers are to preventing people from walking more and what we can do to support and encourage people to walk more within and between their communities.

Dear Parent/Carer,

We are updating and improving our school website and would like some input from families about what sort of information would be useful and relevant. Some work has already been done to remove outdated material and links which are no longer available. There has also been some work done on using the website to share information such as the newsletters.

We currently use X as our social media presence, with the school and individual faculties having pages. We would like to discuss what other options are available.

We are looking for a group of parents/carers, around 8 people per group, to attend a meeting to discuss how to develop the website and how to best utilise social media.

The two choices of meetings will be Tuesday 27th January (2pm – 3pm) or Thursday 12th February (4pm – 5pm).
