Band Parents/ Guardians Grades 6-8 band students:

We’re excited to share that our big band fundraiser begins today! We will be kicking things off with an after-school Kickoff Party from 2:30–4:30 PM. Students are welcome to attend for all or part of the time, and there will be pizza and snacks provided.

The fundraiser will run for three weeks, ending on April 17th, so please don’t worry if your child cannot attend the kickoff event—there will still be plenty of time to participate.

What is Fan Pledge?
Fan Pledge is a donation-based fundraising platform that allows students to reach out to friends and family for support.

Why a donation fundraiser instead of selling products?
With donation fundraising, we keep more of the profit than we would from selling items—meaning more direct support for our band program.

Why are students asked to call instead of just text?
Calling is more personal and impactful, and it also helps students build responsibility and ownership of their band program.

When does it start?
The fundraiser goes live today at 3:00 PM and runs through April 16th.

What do students need to do?
Create their Fan Pledge site (this was done in class, but directions are included if they were absent)

How to set up fan pledge
Add contacts to their site
Attend the kickoff party and begin calling friends and family using the provided script (attached) Script
If they cannot attend today, they should begin calling during their free time

How can families help?
Encourage your child to participate and stay consistent over the 3 weeks
Share your child’s fundraising link on social media after tomorrow afternoon
Consider making a donation through their site (or via cash/check made out to DMS)

If you know a small business—especially in West Warwick—please consider using the business letter we’ve provided (Business Letter)

Thank you so much for your continued support of our band program. We’re looking forward to a fun and successful fundraiser!

Musically,
Bridget Beliveau
James Himmelmann
