Hand sewn stuffed animals, wall hangings, clothes and more. Hi, I am Meghan. I have always dreamed of working for myself, and now I decided to try it out.

When I was 8 yrs old I decided that I was going to be an author. That was how I was going to earn my living. In my sophomore and junior years of High School I realized that I did not want that dream as strongly as I had thought. I love making up stories, I love editing, but writing then out is not as enjoyable a task as I wished it to be. I do not remember when I first learned to sew but it has al

ways been enjoyable to be. I love to experiment with seemingly the most difficult projects. When I was first casually experimenting with my basic sewing skills I would make pillow in the shapes of letters, little jean purses to sell around the neighborhood, bean bags and mini pillows. Each new thing was an experiment, something I thought would be cool, something that popped into my head and I decided to try it out. It was and still is always a pleasure when an idea works out. And when it does not, some how I still enjoy it because it teaches me how to go about it in other ways. In March 2012 I made what I believe was my first stuffed animal. I always thought it would be cool to make a stuffed animal. I always admired that stuffed animals could be made! Until just before March I had never really considered the idea that I could actually be one of those people who made a stuffed animal. That first one was a lion. He is still one of my very favorite creations. A well-done, mind-blowing beauty. As is my habit and personality, I made the lion with a person in mind and quickly gave it away. Now I continue to experiment. With new animals, new styles, objects, and other fabric-y arts like clothes, quilts and wall hangings- an art that I am truly falling in love with. When I sew I am at peace. It is calming. It is a challenge. It is a billion and one new goals and accomplishments. So this is what I am choosing to do to work for myself. I am continuing to grow in an area that keeps me happy, excited and ever growing. The best part is that I get to share it with people all around me, some people that I never met. And each person will create there own love and meanings for each piece they welcome into their hearts. Besides sewing I read, learn about people, blog, journal, email, and ever strive to be a better friend, family member and person. I spent two semesters in college (UVU then SLCC) majoring in Elementary Education and Behavioral Psychology. I am currently taking a break while I work and prepare to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am very excited for this mission. I hope that my efforts at working for myself rather than another type of job will pay off and aid me in preparing for my mission. And then afterwards for living on my own and adding to the business, and taking care of a family. My goal in working for myself is not only to truly enjoy my work, but in order to enjoy it, become a friend and inspiration. After I serve an LDS Mission I want to look into finishing degrees in Education and Psychology and adding tools i learn from those to what I can offer professionally.

Hello everyone! It has been a few months, yikes. I have done not much sewing in this time. I got a 'real' job, something I had been afraid to do because working for myself is my dream. I can only do so much right now in the way of working for myself. So I got a job. i still plan on keeping sewing in my schedule and making fun creations and sharing them with you all. I look forward to putting more lovely moments into more home in whatever way I can with my creations.

Right now my projects are these:
-I want to have a try at making a fox. -I have wanted to do Owls FOREVER, just haven't yet. -I would LOVE to make more turtles, the first was a masterpiece :)
-I need to buy lace, then I can finish the Fairytale Skirt!
-I also have like 10 unfinished animals of a strange variety, mainly Dino's, Hippo's, Penguins. Could be more.. ^_^

I t has been quite a while since I have posted here. I am learning that posted as a page and posting 'as myself' feel quite a lot different. Not sure how to do this :). Trial runs all the way! Try #2! I also discovered that while I am quite capable of making my weekly goal of 7 stuffed animals a week, even more, I apparently wear down after doing it so many wees in a row. Learning how I work, this is so good! I am about ready to share some more projects and products, my latest projects have been more personal, not really sell-able, I have been changing the size of clothes too big on me and modest-ifying to my liking other clothes. Such a great project. I have to take this time that I am so willing to get this done, because if left for later... A familiar story? Clothes are more intimidating to me, creating and fixing them does not click in the same way that stuffed animals do. I get confused about the sizes, patterns, measurements, endless styles!!! Stuffed animals, while they have the same words, size, pattern, measurement, style, I am able to see it in my head and just put it together and modify it as I go! I rarely use a drawn out pattern, because a simply personally done sketch will work just fine- though usually I only draw it so I can go back to it later! My ease is in being able to feel the shape of my art- stuffed animals, sculpted with clay, candle wax and soap- these all work. 'Flatter' art like clothes, drawing (especially drawing! agh!), wire sculpting/twisting, bead work- these are foggier arts.

This morning I was showing my brother how a folded piece of fabric, a tee shirt I was given and cut up, could be a hippo. A few minutes later he said "You know how in movies they say 'you are ripping the fabric of time'" , referring to time travel, "You could say, 'then no one will want it now, it's mine.'" Because I collect fabric people don't want any more. It was really funny!

I just barely opened my Etsy Shop last night, I checked today and I saw that someone had already seen one of my animals! No sells yet, and that is fine, but here is a huge surge of hope that that stuff will actually be seen! This is all so exciting!
