A lot of people hear the word preparedness and immediately think paranoia, fear, or worst-case scenarios.

That's not what I teach.

Preparedness is structure.

That's why The Preparedness Collective is built around the 3Cs:

Control.
Cover.
Communication.

Control is your mindset, awareness, and ability to stay calm enough to make decisions under pressure.

Communication is your voice, your boundaries, and your ability to advocate for yourself and others.

And cover?

Cover is where we start building options.

Because preparedness looks different for everybody.

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to start diving deeper into what “cover” actually means for women, girls, g**s, and theys.

Not from fear.

From confidence.

One thing I learned in the Army is that adversaries rarely attack strength directly.

They look for:
confusion.
Gaps.
Distraction.
Opportunities.

Human predators often work the same way.

Most aren't searching for the “weakest” person in the room.

They're searching for hesitation.

People who look lost.Distracted.Disconnected from their environment.Unsure of themselves.

Preparedness isn't about looking aggressive.

It's about reducing hesitation.

Knowing where you're going.Knowing your exits.Paying attention.Trusting yourself.

You don't need to look intimidating. You need to look decided.

What's one thing you do to stay aware when you're alone in public?

Girls, g**s, and theys often move through the world differently.

We think about safety, visibility, acceptance, and uncertainty in ways many people never have to.

That’s one of the reasons I created this platform and my YouTube channel.

Not to spread fear.
To help people move through life with more awareness, confidence, and self-trust.

Most people think awareness only matters during emergencies.

It doesn't.

It matters at red lights.
Parking lots.
Crosswalks.
Everyday moments people stop paying attention.

The penalty for being unaware isn't always immediate.

Sometimes it's delayed reaction time.
Sometimes it's missing what's happening around you.
Sometimes it's an accident that could've been avoided.

Preparedness isn't paranoia.

It's staying connected to your environment instead of living on autopilot.

Drive safe.
Stay aware.
And stay ready.

Girls, g**s, and theys...

Most people aren't looking for more information right now.

They're looking for clarity.

How do you stay informed without becoming overwhelmed?

How do you understand risk without living in fear?

How do you continue traveling, celebrating Pride, and living your life confidently when uncertainty exists?

That's exactly why I sat down with public health professional Lidoshka Marc.

This conversation isn't about panic.

It's about practical habits, understanding risk, and building confidence in uncertain times.

Girls, g**s, and theys...

You do not have to consume every headline to stay informed.

One of the biggest takeaways from my conversation with a public health professional was this:

Preparation and panic are not the same thing.

Take care of yourself.
Stay informed.
Build healthy habits.

But don't give every breaking news story unlimited access to your nervous system.

Girls, g**s, and theys...

Maybe the problem isn't that you're anxious.

Maybe your body still feels exposed.

Your nervous system responds to space, movement, positioning, and clarity…not shame.

Preparedness should create calm, not paranoia.

💛 Save this for later.

Girls, g**s, and theys...

this isn't a conversation about Ebola, Hantavirus, or the next headline.

It's a conversation about uncertainty.

About what happens when you're traveling for Pride, boarding a cruise, flying to a new city, or attending a festival and realize nobody has all the answers yet.

Preparedness isn't panic.

It's having enough structure that uncertainty doesn't completely derail your plans.

That's why I sat down with a public health professional and asked:

"What are you seeing from the inside?"

The answer surprised me.

Girls, g**s, and theys…

you do not need to be the toughest person in the room.

You don’t need to look intimidating.
You don’t need to act fearless.

You need to trust your decisions.

The people who move the safest usually look calm because they’ve already decided how they’ll move through the environment.

Confidence is often preparation people can’t see.

Most people think safety is about being stronger.

It's usually not.

It's about reducing hesitation.

Looking up.
Moving with purpose.
Trusting your decisions.
Paying attention to your environment.

You don't need to look intimidating.

You need to look like you know where you're going.

Confidence is often preparation people can't see.
