The Canopy School

The Canopy School The Canopy Method is a revolutionary education model rooted in neuroscience, emotional healing, and nature-based learning.

We reimagine school from the inside out—prioritizing trauma-informed teaching, brain development, and identity formation.

Kids don’t need more screen time and worksheets. They need more dirt. 🌱

Time outside can support:

• Better moods
• Lower stress
• Stronger immunity
• Improved focus
• Creativity and confidence
• Healthy sensory development

Even interacting with soil may support the brain’s serotonin response, which plays a role in mood and happiness.

At The Canopy Method, outdoor learning and gardening aren’t “extras.” They’re part of our core belief that children learn best when their minds, bodies, and senses are fully engaged.

Save this as your reminder to let kids get outside and of course, get messy. 🤎

We’ve normalized an education system that asks children to sit still, follow directions, pass tests, get good grades, go to college, and call that preparation for life.

Meanwhile, some of the most important skills for adulthood are treated like extras.

Financial literacy. Entrepreneurship. Leadership. Creativity. Communication. Problem solving. Working with your hands. Taking risks. Failing and trying again.

Not every child needs to be prepared for college.

Every child needs to be prepared for LIFE.

And saying that doesn’t make you anti teacher or anti education.

Sometimes questioning the system is exactly what caring about education looks like. 👏

One thing I keep coming back to: we have to be careful about labeling children by the emotion we see on the surface.

“Angry” is often the easiest thing to notice—but anger can be protecting embarrassment, fear, sadness, overwhelm, rejection, frustration, or feeling misunderstood.

Instead of telling a child, “You’re angry,” I want to stay curious:

“Something feels really big right now. I wonder what’s underneath it.”

Children deserve the space to discover their own emotions, not have adults decide them for them.

Unpopular opinion: the “unsocialized homeschool kid” argument is getting a little tired. 😂

Because somehow sitting at a desk with 25 other kids the exact same age for 6–7 hours a day became our definition of “real world socialization.”

Meanwhile, micro-school kids are:
🌿 interacting with different ages
🧠 learning to communicate + problem solve
🤝 working through REAL conflict
💬 asking questions + having conversations
☀️ spending time outside their four classroom walls
🌎 actually experiencing the world they’re supposedly being sheltered from

Maybe the weird part isn’t choosing a different way.

Maybe the weird part is acting like there’s only ONE normal way to educate a child. 👀

And for the record… Hannah went to a top private school in Palm Beach, so clearly no educational model can prevent the weird. 😂

As an educator who previously worked in interior design, this dollhouse is EVERYTHING. 🏡✨

There’s something so special about watching children explore space, design, family, and imagination through play. A dollhouse isn’t just a toy—it’s a tiny world where children can create stories, experiment with how spaces work, and recreate pieces of the world they know.

And from my former interior designer heart… the details are just too good. 🤍

Learning environments matter. Even the smallest spaces can inspire BIG thinking. 🌿 Comment dollhouse for links

Maybe the real flex is giving kids their childhood back. 🌿

Not rushing them to read first.
Not pushing them to perform.
Not treating childhood like a race to adulthood.

At The Canopy Method, we believe in slow childhoods + strong foundations. 🤎

We meet children where their brains actually are — not where a checklist says they should be.

Because memorizing something early doesn’t always mean understanding it deeply.

We’d rather raise kids who are curious enough to ask why, confident enough to try, and capable enough to think for themselves. 🧠✨

Let them play. Let them wonder. Let them be little.

The academics will come.

Childhood won’t. 🌱
