Good evening everyone – We appreciate you all for reading this post as it is very important to me.
We’ve been fielding a lot of questions regarding as to why we are not doing the 4th year of “Rebecca’s Holiday Drive” for hospitalized children and their families this year. Due to logistics and policy changes with the hospitals we’ve been working with, we have to put our annual drive on hold for until next year.
That said, we have an amazing family here in South Florida who is in dire need of our support. Jill ( We will not be using her last name ) is a single mom who was referred to us by one of our donors. Jill has 4 young children: Vivian; 9. – Peyton 10 - Elijah 2 and Adrian is 5.
Jill is currently on disability, unable to work, facing eviction and has no available funds to provide her children with any sort of Christmas cheer.
Our family is going to provide their Christmas meal, but I am asking you all in helping me raise $500.00 to help provide gifts for the children so they can experience the joy of opening up presents this Christmas.
I know times are tough for many. There are so many worthy charities out there. But Jill is struggling to keep her family together, and Rebecca and I are determined to give her and her kids a special holiday.
If you are able to help us, please donate to our GoFundMe campaign. We are only keeping it active through Friday, and will be doing the gift shopping and wrapping over the weekend.
There is no donation to big or too small. Every dollar helps.
If instead of cash, you want to donate an age appropriate toy for the kids or a Publix gift card for Jill, contact me at [email protected] and I’ll arrange pickup .
Please help Rebecca and I help this wonderful mom and her truly great kids this holiday.

Thanks to the Elks Club of Delray and your generous support, we were able to bring smiles to over 100 children currently in the hospital over the holidays, and many families for our "Adopt A Family" program.
I am truly grateful for all of you!

We are ending "Rebecca's Holiday Drive For Hospitalized Children" tonight
We are just over 50% of our goal thanks to a very generous $1000.00 donation from the Delray Elks, and 38 benevolent souls who have given this year.
We need to kick it into high gear as we have so many more children who could use a little cheer this holiday season!
If you haven't donated yet, this is your last chance to help Rebecca brighten the holidays for some very special children.

Good morning everyone!
Dad and I are going to be starting shopping this afternoon for our first group of children at Palm Beach Children's hospital.
I am truly humbled by the outpouring of support this year.
It's been a bizarre year with Hurricane Irma and so many other things that have occurred.
We really need your support this year to reach our goal. We have close to 120 children in need, and I want to be able to help them all with a new toy and a visit from Santa while they are in the hospital.
I am ending my campaign on Wednesday, with our last visits with the kids on Friday.
You can support the kids with a donation and/or by sharing this with your friends on social media.
Thank you SO much everyone, for helping me help the kids this year!
Love,
Becca

My name is Rebecca Weiss, I'm 19 years old, born and raised in South Florida.
My story started on February 20th, 2015 I was admitted into the hospital with a very serious, life threatening illness.
It's been a long battle, but one that I have overcome.
Now, almost 3 years later, I'm home, happier, healthier, and stronger than ever before. After a year of catch up, not only did I graduate high school, pulling an almost 4.0 average, but I just finished my first semester in college, following my passion of animals and majoring in Veterinary sciences.
I was so blessed to have been released right before the holidays that I decided to dedicate my time going forward to giving back.
During my journey, I met so many children and families in need. Families who because of the high cost of hospital and medical care that insurance didn't cover, were forced into a very bad financial situation.
I decided to spread my happiness out into the world by collecting money to give hospitalized children in need a chance to be happy too. With the money I raised, I was able to buy presents and personally hand them out to children in hospitals who were not able to be home for the holidays. We had the help of a very special man, Jim Nolan of Delray Beach who as he's done so many times before, played the role of Santa for these amazing kids!
For my 3rd year, I will be working with our regional hospitals such as "Palm Beach Children's Hospital" to create a special day again, where we bring in Santa to meet with and give the gifts to the children.
This year we are celebrating “Gracie”, a bright eyed, energetic “Almost 3 year old”. Gracie has Neurofibromatosis Type 1 a neurological disorder characterized by multiple light brown skin spots and neurofibromas (small tumors on the skin). Occasionally tumors may develop in the brain, on cranial nerves, and on the spinal cord or other areas of the body. In Gracie's case, she has developed 2 malignant Optic Nerve Gliomas (a type of brain tumor). Optic Nerve Gliomas are a rare kind of cancer that’s typically slow growing.
Gracie began receiving Chemotherapy on 10/27/17 in the hope of shrinking/stabilizing the tumors and more importantly saving her eye sight because she has a significant loss of sight in her left eye. Gracie will have Chemo for the next year and undergo MRI's and vision tests every 3 months.
Our drive this year honors Gracie, her family and all the other children fighting life threatening illnesses who are hospitalized this holiday season.
I am so blessed to be alive and healthy and with family this year, help me help those ill children who need a little special love and attention this year!
With much love and gratitude,
Rebecca Weiss
