On April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr., was killed by a sniper while standing on the second-floor balcony at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. He had been staying at the hotel after leading a nonviolent demonstration in support of striking sanitation workers in that city. His murder set off riots in hundreds of cities across the country, and it also pushed Congress to pass the stalled Fair Housing Act in King’s honor on April 11.

The SDPBC presents its annual Showcase of Schools. The virtual event will kick off with a Facebook Live session at 4 pm today. When the students are ready—the teacher will have to teach less. I’ve always believed that the learner should be given the autonomy to learn how they learn, at the pace that they learn; and that the teacher should be a motivator, coach, guiding force, and facilitator of that tedious journey and process. I enjoy giving my students something to learn about, something to explore, something to question, something to think about, something to debate about, and something to change the way they perceive themselves, the world, and their place within it. I’m Making Learning and Teaching Fun Again! 🙋🏽♂️👨🏽💻👨🏽🏫🤳🏾
