Upper Limit Aviation is a professional flight school that helps pilots achieve their dreams of joining the aviation industry. Currently, with 11 FAR Part 141 certificates, ULA offers helicopter training under both FAR Part 141 and Part 61. Additionally, ULA is eligible to utilize VA Benefits and is authorized for commercial operations under FAR Part 133, 135, and 137. In 2006, ULA was able to trai

🚨 WINDSHEAR 🚨⬇️

What would you do if you encountered windshear on short final?

It’s a scenario every pilot should be prepared for, even if they hope they never experience it.

In this reel, Sean explains the immediate actions to take if you encounter windshear close to the runway:

✅ Apply full throttle and full forward power.
✅ Maintain controlled flight.
✅ Leave the flaps alone. They’re already providing valuable lift, and retracting them too soon can make the situation worse.
✅ If your airspeed continues to bleed off while you’re trying to hold altitude, you may need to lower the nose. At only a few hundred feet above the ground, that can feel counterintuitive, but preventing an aerodynamic stall takes priority.

The correct response to windshear on short final requires quick decision-making, a solid understanding of aerodynamics, and trusting your training. That’s why practicing scenarios like this on the ground is just as important as practicing maneuvers in the air. You have to stay ready!
