His career is divided between Colombia, his native country, and the United States, going through roles as a violinist, pedagogue, orchestral conductor, chamber musician, orchestral musician, composer, arranger and cultural manager. versity Symphony Orchestra, the Ohio University Campus Orchestra, Filarmónica Antonia Brico, Orquesta Filarmónica Full Entre Cuerdas, Orquesta Filarmónica Latinoamericana de Bogotá, Orquesta Filarmónica Filadelfia y Orquesta de Cuerdas Frotadas Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, among others. He has also been close to traditional Latin American music, being a member of the Orquesta de Tango de Bogotá, Charanga Premier y el Mariachi Remembranzas. As a chamber musician, he was part of the Duo Gato y Luna and Quimera - Cuarteto Fusión, groups that he founded and led as a violinist, arranger, composer and manager. His teaching role includes being part of the Vamos a la Filarmónica program of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, where he was the conductor of several string orchestras and full children's and youth orchestras, as well as a violin instructor. He has also had an active role in the Athens Community Music School as a violin instructor and conductor of different children's string orchestras. Other relevant places where he has taught are the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, Ohio University, Escuela Filarmónica Entre Cuerdas, Museo del Oro, Banco de la República, Academia de Música y Artes de Facatativá and the Compañía Filarmónica de los Andes, among others. In addition to composing, orchestrating and arranging works for different concerts, plays and short films, he is also a very active person for human rights, social equity and animal rights. He has taught and played for free at various community events, bringing music to those who have the least opportunity to hear it. In 2020, he also founded the Fundación Esperanza y Resiliencia together with Jyna Hoyos, a group that has had numerous full orchestras, string orchestras, chamber groups, piano ensembles and choirs where low-income students in the city of Bogotá benefit from high-quality education for free or with a minimum payment to help close the social gap in the city accepting people of all types of musical level without any discrimination based on race,
gender, age, political ideology, religious ideology, etc., in its musical program Escuela Filarmónica Entre Cuerdas. After playing in different youth orchestras with violin teachers such as Clara Cecilia Muñoz and Rodrigo Cottier Arce, Cristian completed his Bachelor's degree in Music Education at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (Colombia) where he studied violin with Martha Cecilia Olave, counterpoint with Alberto León Gómez, harmony and orchestration with Roberto Rubio and composition with Victoriano Valencia, obtaining his degree with the undergraduate research project called Composición original de la Suite Cielo de Estrellas para orquesta de cuerdas frotadas y percusión basada en las técnicas compositivas del maestro Victoriano Valencia en su Suite Arrullo (Original composition of the Suite Cielo de Estrellas for string orchestra and percussion based on the compositional techniques of maestro Victoriano Valencia in his Suite Arrullo). After it, he studied a Master's in Performance at Ohio University under the tutelage of Dr. Nathan Southwick and also a Master's in Conducting with Dr. Jose Rocha.
