Here’s a decent LMB on a frog caught casting w**d mats on a 90° summer day. Frogs jump from the edges of the ponds and travel to the other sides becoming a potential tasty meal for largemouth. I like a medium heavy fast action rod and a fast reel in order to bring the fish in quick to reduce the time they have to tangle in the w**ds or wrap around trees or lily pads. But, depending on how thick the w**ds or lily pads are, you can get away with a medium fast rod. I’ve used both spinning rods and casting rods for this presentation, so do what you can to go catch fish! On a medium heavy fast set up I’m typically throwing 30lb-60lb braid, depending on the thickness of the w**ds. On my medium fast rods I usually have 15-20lb braided line (again, I’m only using that set up in sparse vegetation).
