Good evening, Moore County Schools families,
This is Mrs. Purvis, Superintendent of Moore County Schools, reaching out to share a bit of information as we prepare to get another great school year started soon.
I know many of you may be shopping for school clothes over the next couple of weekends, so I wanted to remind everyone of the importance of following our Student Dress Code. We are preparing young people for their futures, so our guiding principle is that school attire should mirror acceptable workplace attire. Please make sure that all clothing fully covers from the chest to well below the bottom. No short shorts that cup right under the bottom or skirts that barely cover the bottom should be worn, and undergarments should be covered at all times. As stated in the dress code, we want to minimize the loss of instructional time related to dress code violations, so each school will have a clothing closet should alternate clothes be needed.
We would also ask that you remind your children that cell phones are not to be used during instructional time. All personal electronic devices should be put away during class. If you have an emergency and need to reach your child during the school day, please call the front office of your child’s school, and they will be happy to assist you.
Finally, the clear bag guidelines are now in place for all athletic events. Visitors may still carry items in their hands, such as stadium seats and blankets, and diaper bags and medical bags will be allowed. However, any bag larger than a small clutch will need to be clear. These guidelines will help us enhance the safety of events where large numbers of people are in attendance.
We appreciate you trusting us with your children, and I want you to know that the guiding question in every decision we make will be, “Is this what’s best for kids?”
