My crochet hook hack of the day: If you want to polish fake nails before you attach them, turn some crochet hooks upside down and put a dab of glue from a glue stick on each, then press the nails on. Polish away! Once they're dry, the nails pop off easily and the dab of glue comes off, too. I'm terrible at polishing my nails--I almost always get polish on other parts of my fingers, and I never have enough patience to wait for them to dry. Artificial nails are great for crochet videos and special occasions. Now it doesn't matter what color they are in the box. (But I have to cut the right thumbnail short so I can remove my contact lenses safely!)

Saw some surprising yarn-related items on a recent trip to the L.A. area: a huge ball of yarn at the Reagan Library, and a craft book at the Skirball Center's Star Trek exhibit.
