Meet Natalie. She received an Honors Diploma. Scholarships she received include the Governor’s Merit Scholarship and the Pam Jacobs Creative Spark Scholarship. During High School, she said, “I was a really good benchwarmer for basketball for two years. I was also involved in the chamber choir.” Natalie received an Excellent Rating in the solo competition of the OMEA District Large Group Adjudicated Event and received an Outstanding Senior Choir Award. She will miss the teachers at WC. “I really love how much engagement they have and the meaningful conversations.” Natalie plans to attend online classes at Berkeley to focus on music and has been working and saving her money to supplement scholarships. “Taking online courses is actually a lot more affordable for the first semester.” Her 10-Year goal is to “be doing something with music, and if not music, I will be doing something for commercial marketing or management.” Her advice to incoming freshmen is, “Take on more than you think you can. Use your resources to the best of your ability. Nothing in the school is too hard for you.” Congratulations, Natalie! No matter where you go, you will always be a Pirate!

Meet Cameron. She has always been a Pirate. She is attending the University of Dayton to study accounting. Cameron has received scholarships, including the Governor’s Merit Scholarship, to help with tuition. She participated in orchestra until her sophomore year, then began to devote time to college credit plus courses, including Composition, Art History, Environmental Science, and Chemistry. She graduated with an Honors Diploma. Cameron says what she will miss the most about High School is the teachers. “Every teacher that I’ve had has been really helpful and super nice. They’ve all been very approachable.” Her advice to incoming freshmen is to “Experiment with classes. Maybe take a class you don’t think you would like. Just take it to see what you’ll like for the future.” Congratulations, Cameron! No matter where you go, you will always be a Pirate!

Meet more of our graduates from the Class of 2026!
Cacheus - Continuing at West Carrollton as a super Senior in the WOW program. Continuing to work on vocational skills. Credits teacher, Mrs. Rix, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists for their help and support. Outside of school: Loves walks, food, and helping to cook food.

Damari – Attending Miami Regional to major in business with a goal of starting a clothing brand. Participated in track and field, football, and basketball. Favorite experience: “The student staff basketball games and the pep rallies.” 10-year goal: “Promoting my brand even more. I’m hoping to see myself financially stable. I want to help my mom retire.”

Graycee – Received an Honors Diploma. Completed eight College Credit Plus courses prior to graduation. Attending the University of Dayton in the health science program. “I’m choosing whether I want to concentrate in integrated physiology or exercise movement.” School memories: “Science classes. Being in the lab with my friends, making memories, and doing our labs. I remember in chemistry when we did a s’mores lab.” 10-year goal: “Starting a job in a hospital as a Physician’s Assistant. I’ll probably be in residency or completing it by then.”

Shelby – Attending the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). “It’s the best culinary school in the country. Received multiple scholarships from CIA. 10-year goal: “I hope I have my own restaurant.” Advice to incoming freshmen: “Your freshman year matters. The GPA won’t move. I wish I had taken that seriously.” School memory: “I feel like I will miss being a Senior and the easily made friendships.”

Some of our Seniors are going to college, like Jaylin and Larry. Others are entering the workforce, like Sam and Carlos. Good luck, and remember, you will always be a Pirate!
Sam – Entering the workforce after graduation. Credits teachers Ms. Rix and Ms. Kearney, and principal, Mr. White, for being supportive. School memories: “Good moments with best friends. Spending time with friends. That’s what I will miss most.” Advice to incoming freshmen: “Stay out of trouble. Listen to teachers. Don’t wander the halls. Stay focused.”
Jaylin – Attending Wright State University to major in social work and minor in psychology. Received a scholarship from the Dayton-Montgomery County Scholarship program. Outside of school: “I like to read. If I’m not reading, then I’m probably cleaning my room or hanging out with my brother, even though we argue a lot.” About the teachers: “Ms. Pasala is calm and uplifting. Mrs. Earl takes the time to help me. Mrs. C. because I wouldn’t have done English, CCP without her. And Ms. Sanders, of course.”
Larry – Attending Ohio University to study social work. Participated in track and field and football. Favorite experience: “I did the student-staff basketball game during my Senior year.” What I will miss: “Friends. Family. Maybe track a little bit. Just running sports in general.” 10-year goal: “I want to be doing social work, either in Kentucky or somewhere bigger.” Advice to incoming freshmen: “Stay away from drama. Don’t get into any fights. Keep your reputation good and clear. Have fun. Go to all the dances. Try not to miss out on anything because you only do High School once.”
Carlos – Entering the workforce. What I will miss: “My friends, because they’re all going on their separate paths.” Favorite memory: “Going to my Senior Night football game.” Advice to incoming freshmen: “Do your work. Stay on time.”

Meet Deja. She is attending the Ohio State University to major in psychology. She received scholarships, including the Governor’s Merit Scholarship, ERA Scholarship, Ebbers Family STEM Scholarship, Murl Huffman Scholarship, and the Education Recognition Award Scholarship. She received an Honors Diploma, graduated with a 4.7 GPA, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Deja received the President’s Award for Education Excellence, the Brent Parker Pirate Pride Award, the Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award, the Education Recognition Award, and was recognized as the Most Outstanding Female Senior. She took numerous College Credit Plus courses that helped to elevate her GPA and give her a head start in college. Deja served as the Student Body Vice President and was a member of the National Honor Society. Outside of academics, she participated in the Mural Club, played tennis, and did cheer. Her advice to incoming freshmen is “Don’t worry about boys first and foremost. Stay on top of your work from the beginning.” Her 10-year goal is to “Still have lifelong friendships and be very well connected. Probably doing research and connecting with those job opportunities.” Congratulations, Deja! No matter where you go, you will always be a Pirate!

We just can't stop talking about how proud we are of the Class of 2026! Out of a class of 213 graduates, 2 received the Dayton-Montgomery County College Promise Scholarship; 45 students received a Dayton-Montgomery County Scholarship; 11 received a Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship; 11 received the Governor's Merit Scholarship; 46 received an Honors Diploma; 10 were National Honor Society members. There were 758 College Credit Plus hours earned, giving students a head start in college. The total of all scholarships, including those mentioned, totaled $1,200,000. Valedictorian, Koen Hicswa, graduated with a 4.9 GPA, and Salutatorian, Makenna McCune, graduated with a 4.8 GPA. Congratulations to the entire class for all of their accomplishments!

Athletic Secretary, Penny Stanley, is in her new office in the new High School. She is busy unpacking and getting organized, but not too busy to talk to student athletes interested in participating in a fall sport including cheerleading, cross country, golf, football, soccer, tennis, and volleyball.
