With International Women’s Month, I’ve naturally been thinking about the women around me.
Friends. Clients. Colleagues. Women navigating careers, family responsibilities, aging parents, health changes, and the quiet pressure to keep everything together.
In my work, too many times I meet women who feel like they’ve somehow fallen behind when it comes to their health or energy.

I get that moment deeply.
After losing my first husband unexpectedly in my early 40s, it changed the way I looked at EVERYTHING, including how I wanted to live and take care of my health moving forward.
Life has a way of reminding us what really matters.
And the women who inspire me most aren’t the ones who avoid hard seasons.
They’re the ones who walk through them, and still find their way back to themselves.
Midlife isn’t where women fade.
For many of us, it’s where they finally start choosing themselves again.

New week. New month.
Before I plan anything ahead, I always look back.
What worked.
What drained me.
What I’m proud of.
What needs work.
I’ve learned that longevity isn’t built in extremes.
It’s built in consistent, thoughtful adjustments.
This new month doesn’t need some dramatic reset.
It just needs clarity and direction.

I’ve been sitting with something lately.
When my bloodwork came in and I learned that my cardiac risk had increased, it wasn’t dramatic, but it WAS humbling. It made me realize I’d assumed that doing most of the “right” things meant I was automatically protected.
I think that assumption is more common than we sometimes care to admit.
There’s a fine line between ignoring new information and overhauling your entire life overnight. I’m trying to live somewhere in between.
I’m not reacting from a place of fear or pretending it doesn’t matter. Just paying closer attention.
For me right now, that looks like:
- being more mindful about my saturated fat intake
- prioritizing fiber like it’s my job
- expanding my cardio alongside strength
- staying actively engaged with my labs and doctor
A lot more nuances to this but I’m working on it each week.

Awareness doesn’t mean panic but it does invite intention. Sometimes clarity comes when you zoom out.
I shared more on my blog if you’re curious.

You can look healthy on the outside
and still be carrying risk you don’t see.
I’ve been focusing deeply on my health for years but turning 50 forced me to look even closer. At my family history, my labs, and this quiet illusion that “doing everything right” automatically protects you.
It doesn’t always.
I shared the full story on my blog, honestly.
This isn’t fear-based, or even advice or a checklist.
It’s about agency. And I plan on taking it.
If you’re in midlife (or any stage really) and thinking about how you want to feel in the years ahead, it might resonate.
