Life has a funny way of asking a LOT of us. Your body knows. Your nervous system knows. And honestly? You probably know, too.

Maybe you forgot, so here’s a reminder:

You don’t have to wait until you’re completely overwhelmed to slow down.

You don’t have to be falling apart to need a little support.

And you definitely don’t have to have everything figured out before you take a breath.

Sometimes your body is simply asking for a minute to catch up with your life.

That’s part of why I created Ember Rising—a place to pause & remember, time to reconnect with your body, and make a little room for yourself in the middle of everything else.

So…what would taking care of you look like this week? Comment below 👇🏻

Maybe it’s a walk outside.
Maybe it’s going to bed earlier.
Maybe it’s finally making that appointment.
Maybe it’s simply five quiet minutes in the car before you walk into the next thing.

Start there. 💜

I spent last week hanging out at the beach. Tonight I’m prepping for back-to-school season.

It is basically the adult version of a group project where nobody knows who’s in charge. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Just me?

New schedules. New routines. New sports schedules. New levels of “Mama, where is my…?”

Before the school-year whirlwind kicks in, consider this your permission slip to pause.

✨ Try integrative bodywork to give your body some much-needed attention, an unwind, and reconnection.

✨ Explore Nurse-led Lifestyle Medicine Coaching to take a closer look at sleep, stress, movement, and the everyday habits that support how you want to live.

This weekend I’m spending time doing one of my favorite things—learning!

This weekend I’m diving deeper into Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB) training with a focus on pregnancy—learning new ways to safely support the changing body, reduce discomfort, improve movement, and help the nervous system adapt through every stage.

One of the biggest visions behind Ember Rising has always been to keep growing so I can better care for the people who trust me with their health from a lifestyle perspective. Continuing education isn’t about collecting certifications—it’s about providing thoughtful, evidence-informed care that evolves with the people I serve.

✨ While I’m learning, my booking link is officially open—scan the QR code below! If you’ve been thinking about scheduling an integrative bodywork session, I’d love to work with you.

See you soon,

Misty

Turns out adulthood doesn't come with a manual. (Rude, honestly.)

Life changes. Bodies change. Priorities change.

One day you're navigating a new health diagnosis.
Another, you're surviving postpartum.
Or maybe you've realized the career you've built no longer feels like your life and something has to give.

I've had the privilege of walking alongside people through those moments—and I've lived a few of them myself.

That's what nurse coaching is.

Not someone telling you what to do.
Someone helping you untangle the overwhelm, reconnect with what matters most, have an a-ha moment, and move forward in a way that feels sustainable.

Because sometimes the bravest thing you can do is not having all the answers. It's deciding you don't have to figure it out alone.

Booking link coming soon!

One of the services I'll be offering is Integrative Bodywork.

What is Integrative Bodywork? Isn't it just massage?

In short...no.

When I talk to people, I often hear:

"My neck hurts..." as they move it around trying to find the spot.

"It's my back."

"My hips are killing me today."

And many times, that's exactly what's going on. But sometimes the place that hurts isn't actually where the problem started. Our body is really good at compensating, adapting, and getting us through our day...until it just can't anymore and it cries out in discomfort or pain.

That's why my sessions aren't "just a massage."

You'll stay comfortably dressed (a tank top and shorts are ideal for many sessions), and I'll use a combination of techniques based on what I assess and what your body needs that day. That may include:

✨ Targeted soft tissue techniques
✨ Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB)
✨ Cupping
✨ Kinesiology taping
✨ Assisted stretching
✨ Breathwork
✨ Mobility work
✨ Nervous system regulation
✨ Myofascial techniques

Every appointment begins with an assessment, movement, and conversation. From there, we create a session that's designed for you.

Appointments will be available in:

✨ 45 minutes – Great for focused problem areas, athletes, teens, busy schedules, or maintenance between longer visits.

✨ 60 minutes – Ideal for addressing one or two areas of concern while allowing enough time to restore movement and reduce tension.

✨ 75 minutes – Perfect for more complex or long-standing issues, multiple areas of discomfort, or those who want a more comprehensive session.

Whether you're dealing with nagging aches, recovering from an injury, feeling stiff from sitting all day, managing stress that's showing up in your body, or simply wanting to move and feel better, integrative bodywork meets you where you are.

What is DBB?

Dynamic Body Balancing helps identify compensation patterns throughout the body and restore more efficient movement using assessment, soft tissue techniques, corrective movement, and nervous system integration. It is lighter in touch, and the results are impactful! Think of it as looking for why something hurts instead of simply chasing where it hurts.

When was the last time a health professional truly looked at all of you — not just one part or address only one complaint?

Most of us can relate: We go to our primary care provider… and if something isn’t “normal,” we’re referred:
➡️ Cardiology for the heart
➡️ Neurology for headaches
➡️ GI for gut issues
➡️ Ortho for joint pain

Sometimes the specialists collaborate. Sometimes they’re simply too busy to connect the dots. But the truth is — everything is connected.

Your 8 pillars of health — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, nutritional, financial, occupational, and environmental — work together like a system.
>A stressful job can affect your sleep.
>Poor sleep can trigger headaches.
>Headaches can impact your mood/emotions.
>Your mood can affect your relationships… and so on.

Just this week I have been asked what I do — and I shared:

I’m a board certified nurse coach. I use my nursing knowledge to help clients balance their health “wheel” and gave this example:
I was that client who had seen 23+ providers for migraines. Together, with my nurse coach we took a step back. We looked at everything — food, sleep, air quality, fragrances, stress, purpose. We problem-solved across the pillars until symptoms improved or were eliminated. That inspired me to help others in similar health and wellness situations to me.

That’s what whole-person care is. And that’s what nurse coaching is meant to be. Assess your wellness by downloading this tool or check out my other free resources: wellnessbymisty.com

If you’re ready to explore how your pillars of health connect — or you know someone who’s searching for answers — DM me. I’d be honored to help.

🩺 15 years ago today, I graduated nursing school.

I started my career as an Occupational Health and Safety Nurse in a potato manufacturing facility in the PNW — educating, advocating, and caring for over 500 workers & contractors while building and maintaining safety and wellness programs.

Since then, nursing has changed — for both nurses and patients:
1️⃣ Technology — We’ve moved from paper charts to EMRs, telehealth, and AI tools that assist (but sometimes complicate) care.
2️⃣ Patient needs — Chronic conditions are more common. Cases are more complex. And insurance limitations often leave little time for true patient education or prevention.
3️⃣ Workplace pressures — Staffing shortages, higher patient acuity, and moral injury are all too familiar in today’s healthcare environments.
4️⃣ Access to care — Medical advances have been incredible, but the system is harder to navigate — with real barriers that leave many patients falling through the cracks.
5️⃣ The nurse’s role — We’ve evolved beyond the bedside. Today’s nurse is also a teacher, advocate, coach, and change-maker.

This is why nurse coaching matters. It reflects what Florence Nightingale envisioned:
Nursing as both a science and an art — focused on helping people heal, grow, and thrive.

Here’s to 15 years of making a difference — and to the next chapter, where my work as a nurse coach helps others create lasting change. Your first 30-minute call is a zero-pressure space to explore your goals and see if we’re a good fit.
