The Milky Way and the Goddess Nut 🌌⁠

Long before astronomers understood the structure of our galaxy, people incorporated this pale band of stars into their stories about the sky. In ancient Egypt, it may have been associated with Nut, the goddess who embodied the heavens. 👩‍🦳⁠

Nut was often depicted as a woman arching over the Earth, sometimes with stars covering her body. Her form resembles the Milky Way as it spans the sky from horizon to horizon. According to Egyptian mythology, she swallowed the Sun in the west every evening and gave birth to it again in the east each morning. ☀️🌙⁠

A recent study of ancient Egyptian coffins and tombs found another intriguing connection. One depiction of Nut contains a thick, wavy dark line running across her star-covered body. Researchers suggest that it may represent the Great Rift — the same dark dust lane we can observe across the Milky Way today.⁠

What Is Beyond Form? Shiva’s Answer Changes Everything

Everything you see has a form—your body, your face, the people you love, the world around you. And every form appears, changes, and eventually disappears. But the Vijñāna Bhairava Ta**ra repeatedly points attention beyond changing appearances toward Bhairava: the undivided reality of consciousness that cannot be reduced to any particular form.

So when Devi asks, “What is beyond form?”, Shiva’s answer points not toward another object, image, heaven, or belief, but toward that which remains when our fixation on appearances dissolves. The Ta**ra uses emptiness, vast space, darkness, silence, and the dissolution of thought as doorways into this recognition. Several practices explicitly lead the meditator toward Bhairava’s “formless form” and the nondual void in which the Self reveals itself.

“Form appears and disappears. That which sees it remains. Know that as the formless.”

Don’t believe these words. Watch directly. Everything perceived is changing—but what is it that knows the change?

Stonehenge was built 5,000 years ago by people dragging stones weighing up to 25 tons from as far as 466 miles away. And scientists have just confirmed something extraordinary about why the stones are arranged the way they are. 🌅✨ (cite index="870-1">Research from the University of Salford found that inside the complete original Stonehenge, speech would have been amplified by approximately 4 decibels with no echoes, so that anyone standing within the outer circle could hear conversations from the center perfectly. Remarkably, any sound made inside the circle would have been almost inaudible to those standing just outside it.

The stones essentially created a sealed acoustic chamber, a prehistoric sound environment where voices and music inside the circle were amplified and contained simultaneously. (cite index="873-1">A 2024 discovery revealed that the central 13,200-pound bluestone at Stonehenge was not brought from Wales as previously believed, but was transported from the far northeast of Scotland, a distance of at least 466 miles, suggesting the builders traveled extraordinary distances to source specific stones, possibly for specific acoustic or energetic properties. The monument also aligns precisely with the summer solstice sunrise and winter solstice sunset, making it simultaneously an astronomical calendar, an acoustic chamber, and what archaeologists increasingly believe was a place of healing. 🌀

The people who built Stonehenge left no written record. We are still piecing together what they understood and why.
