In Eagle this week we’re playing with cars and tracks during speech times. So much fun!

This week in speech at Waverly we had an obstacle course. Say your sound/word/sentence/etc… and go through the next element. This is absolutely one of my favorite activities. Also pictured, Miss Charli! She’s a graduate student with me this semester, so you’ll hear your kids talk about her.

Last week in Waverly we played basketball while we practiced our words/sentences/grammar. It was a lot of fun 🤩

Today I did yoga+literacy with all of the friends at Waverly Preschool! We had so much fun learning our breathing, poses, and relaxation. We read the book “You Are A Lion”. Yoga is a fun way work on understanding and following directions with positional words like “beside”, “together”, “behind”, etc…. It’s a great way to practice watching and listening. Parter poses are a fun way to practice cooperation. We had a great time with our first yoga day of the school year! (We were having so much fun that I forgot to get pictures of all of the classes. Next time I’ll do better in that department!)

This week at Hamlow we’re making cookies while we work on speech and language skills!

Yoga Friday at Eagle preschool! After taking a continuing Ed class on yoga/literacy/language, I asked if I could lead a preschool yoga lesson once a month this year. Yoga is a great way to teach and practice all sorts of speech/language skills, including: vocabulary, positional language, breathing, flexible thinking, social interactions, and overall communication skills. We did breathing, poses, and relaxation. Today our book for poses was You Are a Lion. The kids (and I) had a lot of fun and I’m already looking forward to next month!

In August, the kids working on language goals (grammar, sequencing, verbs, etc…) have been working with Jabari Jumps. It’s been such a fun book to talk about!

The first week of preschool is done! I had so much fun seeing the kids in the classroom during small groups and play and we finished August progress monitoring while building really tall towers. It’s going to be a great year!
