Some of us became really good swimmers because, somewhere along the way, we decided we were going to keep swimming.

Not because the water got easier. Not because we stopped missing our child. Not because grief disappeared.

But because there is still a life here to live.

So we learned how to show up. How to laugh again. How to love people deeply. How to build something beautiful beside something devastating.

And sometimes we get so good at carrying it that people forget how heavy it still is.

Being a good swimmer doesn’t mean you never struggle to stay above water.

It means, again and again, you choose to swim.

And maybe that’s one of the bravest parts of grief. 🤍

Maybe it’s time we make something so uncomfortable… normal.

Because every one of us will experience grief.

Let it connect us. Let it soften us. Let it create a bond instead of another divide.

There’s enough division in this world already. 🤍

There are things grieving moms learn to keep quiet.

Not because they aren’t true.

Because sometimes telling the truth about grief makes other people uncomfortable.

So we soften it.

We change the subject.
We say, “I’m okay.”
We carry the weight a little more quietly.

But maybe we shouldn’t have to.

Maybe the people who love us need to know that saying our child’s name doesn’t hurt us.

Remembering them doesn’t hurt us.
Talking about them doesn’t remind us they died.
We already know.

What matters is knowing they haven’t been forgotten.

So if you love a grieving mom, ask her:
“Tell me about them.”

And then stay long enough to hear the answer. 🤍

Wearing it. Speaking it. Carrying it into a room where no explanation is needed.
