Hi all. I will be speaking at the Midwest conference for the Society for Photographic Education, October 17, in Madison. My presentation is called, "Lars and the Real Girl Vs. Laurie Simmons:
Titillation, Sexuality and Provocation in the Utilization of Dolls and Mannequins in Contemporary Photography."

Society for Photographic Education The Society for Photographic Education (SPE) is a national non-profit organization that seeks to promote a wider understanding of photography in all of its forms and to foster the development of its practice, teaching, scholarship and critical analysis.

Carroll 2014 Homecoming is Saturday, October 18. There will be art openings in the morning, with the ART/GRC hotdog tailgate at noon on the north side of Humphrey Art Center. Please stop by and say HI!

Carroll University is pleased to announce that we will have a graduate program in graphic communications starting in the fall, 2013. If you know of anyone interested in working on this masters degree, please let them know. This is a two-year program. Details about course offerings and the curriculum will be available towards the end of May.

Photography Openings This Week

This Thursday evening is an Opening Reception for a Milwaukee photographer, William Zuback. There will be readings from "Book Passages" at 5:20 and 6:30. Don't miss this special photography event at Carroll. thanks, Phil Krejcarek
See "A Visual Journey" at Carroll University, Main Hall Gallery
A new exhibit opening at Carroll University will feature the archival ink jet photographs of William Zuback. “Book Passages: A Visual Journey” will be displayed in Main Hall, 120 N. East Ave., Waukesha, from Oct. 18-Nov. 20, 2012. A reception will be Thursday, Oct. 18, from 5-7 p.m. All visits to the gallery are free and open to the public.

Zuback is a professional photographer who manages the studio for a magazine and book publishing company in Waukesha. He graduated from the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, Calif. He creates conceptual/staged contemporary photographs that deal with issues of family and identity, often in a surreal style.

“Book Passages” is an interactive series for which Zuback asked friends, family and fans to send brief excerpts from their favorite or current book. Although thematically different because of the variety of donated book passages, this series has a striking thread of similarity. It showcases the complexity of human communication.
